YAY FIrst to post. Does anyone have a nice setup in their boat that they would recommend? My kona doesnt have any stereo equipment in it and I would like to try and have at least 4 speakers and a lil sub. Any Ideas?

haha...i actually thought i created an audio section in the beginning....then today i went to create a post about a question i had and couldnt find it....so i created one.

and yes, its because of the day cruiser

I actually have a Duel CD reciever and a Blaupunkt amp, two Pioneer 6X9 three ways, two JBL 8"woofers and two Duel 6" two ways in White Trash, it doesn't do too bad...

I caught a sale just right and bought everything brand new for less than $200

It wouldn't be White Trash otherwise...I just used one of those under dash boxes to install the deck, everything else is pretty hidden...

Maybe some pics tomorrow..I got to get back to work

alpine head unit, cd player with satelite, mtx electronic cross over, mtx amp for bass and rear speakers, one 6 channel amp for rest of speakers, 2 boston 6x9 in front, 2 6.5 boston in mid cabin, 2 6x9 jl audio 2 ways in the rear, 2 1" alpine tweets in middle, 2 12" mtx subs, without the kids in the boat i can ripple the water

I have a pioneer cd player with ipod hookup. Alpine 60w x4 channel amp powering 4 Polk audio 6 3/4" speakers. A Rockford fosgate db 500w x1 amp powering 1 Polk 12" sub hidden under the driver side dash area. It sounds good for the type of music I listen to (mostly rock).

IMO an amp to power the interior speakes is very important to get any volume out of your music. It's not such a big deal in a car but in a boat that is all open the volume needs to be turned up alot louder.

I'm planing to add a 3rd set of 6 3/4" speakers up front in the bow and possibly 2 10" subs instead of the 1 12".

1971 Kona 18 ft:

Deck: Clarion with Ipod hook up
Amp: Clarion 720 x 4
Front (Under dash in side panels) speakers: Clarion 6.5" two way component speakers
Rear (built into engine pully cover) speakers: Clarion 7" coaxials
Sub: 1 self powered 400 watt 10" BAZOOKA under the deck firing foward. (this thing actually does quite well)

In the first pic, you can see the component speakers in the panel in front of the pasenger seat. as far as amp and sub, they are below the deck. I glassed in a wood platform for them to set on.

Ya know when I am out on the water, I try to stay away from guys like you. There is always some jerk playing music I can't stand, so loud that I have trouble hearing people talking in my boat. I know I am probably gonna start a shit storm here but c'mon now. Honestly where do you go at the river where there isn't already some guy playing his stereo so loud that you can hear it just fine? A small stereo turned down low enough so that only the peeps on your own boat need to listen to it should be enough for anybody. Have some consideration for others people.

just because we have alot of power and speakers does not necessarily (sp) mean that it is at full volume all the time, as high power system will sound much better than a cheap one, even at low volume.

I am not anti-volume, I have 500 watts of Denon running into JBL's in the house

I just hate being forced to listen to other people's bad music when I am sitting on my little chunk of fiberglass paradise. On the water I prefer Ralph's idea of "music".

i like to have the ability to go louder than the asshole playing shitty music and shut him down, then turn mine down, its funny, the system in the new boat flat out rocks and hits hard, yet it is very seldom even turned on

I can help with some better pricing on most audio stuff and come across some pretty good delas from my distributors once in a while.I cant compete with some ebay sellers but i WILL give a warranty and WILL be available unlike ebay.

right now i can get a MTX box with 12" Terminators and Terminator amp for $200(local sales,unable to ship)

MB 6.5" 2 ways $80

But i will help where i can since this board helps me stay motivated to work on my boat

JBL subs and Kicker subs are great additions, and do wonders with just one. for speakers Infinity makes some good marine grade speakers but they can be a little pricey if your lookin for an exotic look Audiobahn on ebay will work

i had the pyles. they are alright. but for the money get the alpine 7 inch marine speakers. those thing rock i can even hear them over my motor under full throttle.

and when parked they rock outside theboat as well.

Your being nice, Pyle was a good company a looooooong time ago. They where a family owned company, and one of a few companies that where actual manufactures of speakers in the USA. They actually made there own speakers and amps, also made speakers for other brands /companies. Those days are long gone. The name is now owned by a large corporation and all of the products are low quality (overseas made, swap meet style) stuff.
