Yes, approved. BUT, (you aint gonna like this) there are no retroactive points!!! So, the Parker race will not be counted towards the 09 season points, and Harold's KILO record is also not official. I feel this is wrong, but APBA has NEVER awarded retroactive points to any class. The class really isn't officially active until it is printed in Propeller Magazine. I was told at the National meeting that it usually takes at least 30 days after a class is approved......That COULD mean the Havasu Landing race points won't count towards National points. Harold, I think you're getting a raw deal about the Kilo record, but what I think doesn't count at all..............I also feel the points for Parker should stand, but again, what I think doesn't count. I'm sure it'll all work out when we look at the big picture. At least the class is alive and well. I know Ted and Gritch tried their damnest to have the class re instated instead of treating it like a new class. To no avail.........Good luck to all the CJ racers in 09........Ray

I dont have a dog in this fight but in all fairness since it wasnt an "official" points race I dont know how you could count it towards the Series point totals.  What I could see you guys doing is if no NEW comptitors show up at the first Official races then you guys could vote on using the parker race towards the championship.  Anyone with integrity could see the justification for doing do.  If you do have New competitors show up then you cant in my eyes.

Ray - why do you always have to focus on the negative side of everything?

I am thrilled the class finally got approved after everyones hard work.

You shouldnt let points from a single race disapoint you so much. This isnt nascar with thousands of dollars on the line.....this is a HOBBY, not a CAREER. The rules are the rules and things are panning out how the rules are stated per APBA. I personally like the idea of a 'clean state from XX date' so there are no questions to anything. It shouldnt be a surprise to anyone how things panned out if you cared to read the rules in the first place.

i've come to realise in the past few months that this class has stressed me out more then I should have ever let it...and im not just talking about the stress of racing...im talking about the drama this class has brought to the table in the last year with points, rules, etc.

i do care for it as if its my own child as I have been a part of its upbringing as well as many others....if it wasnt for the group effort of everyone (even jim rich) ...this wouldnt have been possible.

SO...I've realised I should be doing this for fun....and so should everyone else. Dont let the small things ruin it for everyone.

Great point Brad.

If you are able to run in any type of racing for a full season with this crappy economy, you need to realize you are one of a limited few and be glad that there is a series to run in.

Congrats on getting the APBA sanction.

I'm hoping to make it out to a couple more races this year (even if it's only to spectate)  ;D

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

HAZA for Comp Jet! Everyone should really take some time to thank Brad on this one.  Don't sweat the points or the records or the Bickersons.  Work on keeping it going and interest building will be tough enough.

Brad, if all you saw were negatives you mis interpreted my post. I felt I was leaning toward  the sympathetic side. Not so much about Parker, but about the Salton Sea event and the effort put forth to set a Kilo record. I stated clearly that the big picture was a big plus towards the future of CJ. I also mentioned how your representatives worked hard on the classes behalf. Look a little deeper and you may see my statements a little differently. I'll allow my efforts in APBA circle racing to speak for me. BTW, those efforts have been going on for decades, not a couple of years............Ray

Had my B-Day party here this weekend. Buddy of mine tagged onto this site on my laptop and found these posts about the Comp Jet. He wanted to know if there was an Import class? LOL. Seems he has this Idea all of a sudden, not that I encouraged it, of putting his B-18 GSR engine in my Saguaro. Any thoughts? lol
