Black Lake
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:39:57 AM »
This is from Saturday

Well guys the day has be rough all the way a round. Almost missed registration this morning. Then after we finished with that my sister locked her keys in the SUV and it had my race boat behind it, we almost missed the drivers meeting before we got it it unloked and drove the 20 miles back to the track following crappy direction.

Next we went out for the first heat race we didn't jump the clock start but we missed it by 45 second or so. The boats were all over the place. (damn beginners)
Mark and I were hauling the mail then coming out of the last corner headed for the finish line, It happened. Caught a roller the boat lifted came down hooked hard left and I went swimming. Boat stayed floating, took on allot of water and sucked some in the engine. I got a free ride to the medic and the boat went back across the lake. After a while at the medic they set me free with a clean bill of health then a patrol boat gave me ride back to the other side of the lake.

When I got back everyone was glad to see me and they had all ready started working on the boat. Richard, John Rork, Jeramy and all pulled the plugs pumped the water out, we got it back running and made the final. Finished third in the final, because I was a little beat up and didn't want to press my luck.

We finished up headed back to the motel and more trouble ensued. Richards A/C was out we were locked out of our rooms again for the third time in 24 hours. The beds are crap and they have no extra pillows.

WOW what a weekend so far. Well I am tired and sore so I am out of here.
All in all It is going to be a weekend to remember :D:D:D

Is September here yet so I can relax.

Oh By the way befor the spill and after I got back to look at it the GPS said 95 MPH

Sundays Details

Well today was a better day. No one locked their keys in their vehicle. We also kept the  boat right side up and it finished 1st in the heat and in the main, I was not behind the wheel though due to some very sore body parts. Richard drove the heat and Mark Moyle drove the main because they had some sort of ignition failure in the 203 and could not get it refired and Richard had to leave to catch a plane. I did drive the C/J 40 though to take the starts so the class would have legal starts.

Mark Moyle ended up with the record in the 203 boat, The record is not very fast as water conditions were horrible and we blew the clock starts so bad it added time to the record. The record is only 76 MPH. Scott Dayle finished 3rd overall, I finished 2nd and Joe Dillworth was the overall winner. After all was said and done it was a great weekend and will truely be one to remember.

Correction, he ALMOST got tossed out earlier.  Unfortunately he did get tossed exiting that corner.  That boat is badass fast and I'm certain he and Richard are gonna get it sorted out.  He's got bigger nuts than me.  I woulda been scared running thier cruiser boat serving backup duty.  You racer kats are too damn cool but there aint no way I could do that

Being safe for me is higher on the priority list than being fast.
That boat tossing around like that , was unsafe.
Many of us have played it safe and slowed down.
I'd rather see lower MPH numbers than see someone get wet.

God job on the boat running like a top but  :-\

I agree with Omar. The boat has some handling issues. It looks too aired out to me.

i knew nothing about this event until terry mentioned it to me at the wedding. ralph mentioned you (louis) were going to set some record, i assumed it was a kilo deal, not a compjet course record and compjets were running. im a little embarrased i didnt know and i made no mention of it on the compjet website either.

how many boats ran? who ran? any idea what place they finished each heat?

i would like to update the site with points results from that event. I just got the official corrected results for burley from terry so i will be putting that up as well soon.

I'm lookin forward to finally re-join the class in long beach.

Brad the event was a record course. 1 1/4 mile course. The compjets went their to run and set a course record. Mark Moyle set the course record.
It was not very impressive as the water conditions were sub-standard for a real good run. The course record is only 76 MPH.

We ran 5 boats, Mark Moyle in the 203, Scott Dayle in the 637, Joe Dillworth in the 171, Richard Hammond in the 40 and I ran the 402.
I am not sure how we finished in each heat because we blew the clock starts so bad. The overall winners are Joe Dillworth 1st, Me 2nd, Scott Dayle 3rd, I think Mark Moyle 4th and Richard 5th not sure on these two. If you need official result I can give Mark a call and see if we can get a copy.

Looks like a good time.
What kind of changes are you going to make to the 402?
Most of the time were trying to air them out, not get them wetter.
And are you going to Long Beach?

Well for starters we are going to change the steering. Putting Calgo back in so we can take the slack out.
Maybe some shoe and loader changes. To pull it down some. I am even going try and take a few degrees
out of the nozzle to make it run flatter. I just hope that we can settle it down.
Not planning on LB right now but things can change.
