Nordie, Jen and I left vegas around 10 and got there between 3 and 4. Got everything unpacked and settled in our pit and skip showed up...with the SCJB hats....they turned out great! We later headed over to ralphs for the weekend and cooked up Skips famous tri-tip. Couldnt have been better.
Saturday morning we made some changes to the boat. Put on a more aggressive loader and changed from the mini droop to the standard berk nozzle. testing went pretty crappy....boat started to sputter on the 2nd lap and the boat was riding way too wet and hunting down the course. We ended up putting the mini droop back on and ralphs dad went through the valves and then soon found a rocker arm stud loose on #4...tightened it up and we went out for heat 1....boat ran like CRAP. I cam in after the 2nd lap. Ralphs dad went through the valves again and found 2 rocker arm polly lock seats smashed. Got those replaced and went out for heat 2....boat ran better, but still crapped out after the 1st lap. we figured it was 1 of 2 things....either ignition or carberation.
Sunday morning we decided to swap out the MSD setup for a magneto. We also put 3 degrees of wedge in the pump. Went out for testing and it hit 90mph.....ran solid and strong. The boat had a slight hop in it, but it handled great and turned strong.
The frist heat on sunday into the 1st turn of the boat just fell on its face...popping and rattling...ended up pulling a rocker arm stud clean out of the head. If it wasnt for pat (lbhsbz), our day would have been done. He raced home and got the hardware needed to fix it.
The second heat out on sunday is where everything came together. The boat ran solid and tough through the whole race. I was standing in a firm 3rd place with Louis and Alan behind me. I had started to be able to learn the pattern of the water for each lap and was reading it better and getting more confident with each lap. Then going into the 1st turn of i believe the 3rd lap, i went in hot, slowed down too much and tried to gas it back hard through the corner and spun out....I made a full quick recovery, but lost a position to louis, but i was on the road to recovery. Then shortly after, Lance got wet. I dont know exactly what happened yet. I am not sure if he flipped or spun or what, but I guess the R&D guys got it all on film and will be sharing it with the general public soon. Lances boat did sink, but he is ok and in good spirits.
There is several people I need to thank. If it wasnt for them, I wouldnt have even made the first heat. Things were not in my favor all weekend long and the boat just was being stubborn as all hell. My crew was there between every heat thrashing. We made every heat with all the problems we encountered. I hope I can continue to race and have these guys there supporting me at every race.
Dave @ A &D Engines - You truly built me a strong running beast. I never went easy or gave mercy on the throttle all weekend and the bottom end held together through it all.
Ralph and his pops (Brunt Racing) - If it wasnt for you two, there would be no way I could do this at all. The long late night hours, the between heat thrashing....the parts lent unconditionally to help get the boat out there to make the next heat. PRICELESS. thank you very much for EVERYTHING.
Sammy Page @ UBS - Thank you for all the financial support and making all of this possible.
Josh (Nordie) - thanks for loading and unloading....getting us from point A to point B, thrashing on the boat, and being the general boat gas bitch

Skip - thanks for bringing the standard nozzle and swapping back and forth between the two....and not to mention the great tri-tip and potato love.
Terry - thanks for lending us the loader, rudder, and nozzle plugs
Pat (lbhsbz) - you came through and saved the day on sunday. I seriously thought we were throwing in the towel when we stripped that rocker stud out. Also, thanks for the bowl studs and wedges. I owe you a cold one or twelve next time we meet up on the river.
Louis (cj402) - thanks for the throttle return spring and use of your space helmet scoop!

Harold Brice - thanks for the carb bowl bolt gasket and spark plugs.
My wife Jen - thanks for being there and keeping me trucking along....and making sure I was stapped in and ready to go.
And last, but not least...thank you everyone from the site who showed up and gave your support....it was crazy and met a ton of people so if i leave you out, sorry!........cj222, marcsrollin, Bull20, Jim Brock, Nick, flytime, beav, redsnapperslapper, 76nordic (aka driving ms daisy), desrtrat256, 76bonneville, and anyone else i forgot!
