it was presented to some board in laughlin to race this year (october-ish) and was turned down because its a "family oriented event"

laughlin is now run by vegas and vegas has done away with the theme park themes and is going back to the sin city.

they are going to represent it next year with a different spin.

Laughlin sucks....................  >:(

Anytime they can make money for the town they shoot themselves in the foot.......

Its truely amazing of what the casinos "used" to be compared to what they are now.......

The strip is empty while the indian casinos are full ???  Yeah lets not have any reason to bring people out here huh

Ghost town :screwy:

Lets see... A Laughlin race that does not need to be friendly to the mom, dad and three year olds set.  What would that mean... Beer, wet t-shirts, river racer run what-ya-brung classes, rock bands, champagne spraying winners, and the problem is.....

One other thing about Laughlin.  Sports betting... people could bet on the boats running right past the casinos live in real time.

Nevada Gaming regulations dont permit sports betting on events held in that state. Thats why the whole sports team(NFL,MLB, etc) doesnt work in Nevada. They would have to move the event to the Arizona part of the river.

The races, when held in Laughlin, are staged up river from the bridge at Davis camp.........They do not run in front of the Casinos.................It would be cool if they did, but alas, no............Ray

No gambling on Nevada events?  toooooo bad.  I thought you could bet on the NASCAR race in Vegas when it comes to town?

Would be news to me, I am usually at the race so I wouldnt know. I know that when they have the NBA all star game and all the pre seaons games here there is no betting!

That’s strange Laughlin has had those races there for years.  I think the 2004 race was the last one.

I am wondering if talking to the Bullhead Chamber of Commerce first would help.  You would think that Davis Camp and some local businesses would want to get in on the action.
