Thank you...
« on: March 21, 2011, 11:38:35 PM »
I dont even know where to begin....this weekend was a tough one for the crew of the Crazy Eights.

I broke a oil pump in the last turn of the 2nd qualifier while in 3rd place. I had a great group of people helping me out. We pulled the motor and dropped the pan and swapped in another oil pump and while in the rush putting it back together, i dropped the oil pump shaft and missed the hole. Spent about an hour fishing it out with a magnet. We were about to give up and pull the motor again to drop the pan then I finally fished it out with a magnet. We rushed over to the ramp with chromey in tow sitting on the bowl tightening up the drive line. They sent the comp jets out as soon as we got over to the ramp and had 1 guy sitting in the way who took his sweet time to move....needless to say we missed the main event.

Sunday, We took the boat out with only 25 lbs of oil pressure....and went down to 0 lbs before the green. I just crossed the start line and shut it down. The plan is to put new bearings and new oil pump in it this week.

This picture was taken by Tony (Aquaholic) and explains it all...

Thanks to chromey....you really busted your ass this weekend helping me out. I couldnt have done it without you.
Thanks to Willow Wog....you jumped in and started turnin wrenches like mad.
Thanks to 76nordic....you turned wrenches on saturday and packed my shit up in the rain on sunday. youre the man.
Thanks to Marcsrollin for nothing.   ...it wouldnt be fun if the peanut gallery was there to crack jokes as we fumbled our way through it.
Thanks to Jim Brock for adjusting my float bowls and lending me some oil.
Thanks to the 288 crew for lending me some more oil.
Thanks to Terry for keeping the class informed and makin sure everyone was on the same page
Thanks to Jeremy for the oil pump
Thanks to Jim Rich for letting us use the oil pump primer
Thanks to wizard612 (Tom) for jumping in and helping getting it back together
Thanks to the R&D Marine crew for assisting me in trying to get the boat to handle better
Thanks to Ralph for helping me keep my head straight during the whole oil pump swap and makin sure things went smooth.

and thanks to anyone else I forgot......
...and also thanks to everyone who came out. its always good to see everyone out at the races.

Dang Brad, sounds like a challanging weekend, glad you were able to get thru all of it and keep your head straight. I was not able to make the races but I'll be in Parker this weekend, you going to be there?

Boat looks good in flat black too!

Oh the memmories this will make!  Sorry we weren't quite quick enough for you on that second heat Brad.  I was fun getting my hands dirty again though.  (On your list of things to get have some hand cleaner in the pit box!)  Chromey did a great job sticking with it and with a dozen guys "helping" I'm suprised we didn't bump into each other more, especially with some of our wide girths (me).  Stick to it Crazy Eights Racing Team! This stff makes the successes that much more fullfilling.

No biggin deal Brad, I had a blast. It was cool helping the team out  Bummed about you not making it out after all the work the guys put in. Hell even my daughter was bummed she didn't get to see you run :screwy: I know in the end it didn't matter anyway, with the freaking oil pump.  And I am still LMFAO with what you said about Marc ;)   See ya in Parker

the races were a great time. i would like to come out more. i love last minute racing and pulling motors. i would have been more involved but you seemed to have enough members of the pit crew. sorry i could not make it on sunday to support the crew but i had family business to tend to and i could not get away.

see you guys at the next event.
picked up my boat this weekend and she is ready to rock. just need to clean her up a bit.
When  you turn your boat on... does it return the favor?
