90% of racing is just getting there :-\
You aint kidding .

And here, this whole time, I though there was only one way to stir shit, learn something new every damn day  ::)

Steve, you have to be sooooo close now, hang in there man, at least you don't have a Penis Wrinkle for a neighbor calling the police every time you pull the boat out of the garage... >:(

thats the problem....i dont know...

apparently a misordered part (timing set) was the deal breaker yesterday as we cant get another in time....but as far as why the hell it came down to this being so last minute as we started this project 4 months ago....im embarrased to say i dont know...

Got a quick race story for ya, the first Jetboat race I ever actually participated in was in Oregon on the Rogue River in 1989, my buddy had this old boat and was determined to race it up the mighty Rogue, pretty much no matter what, he spent the better part of a year prepping the boat, getting all of his safety gear together and making sure everything was "perfect", got down to the wire and tested in the weeks before the race, got to race day and the boat would not run past 1200 RPM, no other problems, just would only idle and die...He was so frustrated he put the boat back on the trailer and simply parked it, I went over to the boat with my other freind and said to him "we cannot let this thing beat us", we looked at everything; tach, wireing, carb., carb linkage, name something, finally I pulled the coil out of the boat and took the one out of my Blazer (GM HEI) bolted it in and the thing took off like it was scared...we made the starting line with a whole minute and a half to spare....we raced several more times together after that, unfortunately, we all grew up, got married, had kids, mortgages, and responsibilities that kept us from risking life and limb, but the stories will last forever, I am seriously trying to get back into the raceing scene again, but on a limited scale...

I guess what I'm trying to say is, and I think Ralph would agree, about half, if not more of the fun/challenge is getting to run in the first place.

The amount of challenges vary; money, technical difficulties, weather and so on, but the way you handle them should stay the same...one at a time.

Sorry to hear about the problems Brad, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

they only ran one heat of compjet today.....they ran out of daylight before they could run the second heat....so they are running the remaining 3 heats tomorrow starting at 8am

first heat results:

1st) Harold Bruce 313
2nd) Toby Clark 53
3rd) Lance Nicoles
4th) Jim Rich 72
5th) Scott From Idaho 637
21 and 222 broke

Both of terrys boats broke...they tossed a coin to see which boat gets the backup motor in it.....so they are up in havasu at the cucci shop putting the spare in the 222 tonight

toby and harold put on some seriously good racing today....they both swapped pole positions 3-4 times between first and second within the 4 lap heat....it really had the crowd going. Nick and lance were neck and neck most of the race until nick broke down with mark in the 222 right behind them. Scott held 4th place most of the race until he spun out.

i will report back tomorrow with the rest of the results.

Oh this is going well   ::)

yeah, tell me about it

well, sunday didnt go well for others

toby went through 2 sets of head gaskets and mark chucked the #1 rod through the pan on the backup motor after 2 laps

heat #2 (from saturday

harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich
(mark and toby didnt get out for this one)

heat #3 (first heat on sunday)

harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich
(toby spun out then came in because of all the oil in his bildge - it was blowing out the breathers)
(Mark lunched his motor)

heat #4

harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich

overall lance and harold put on some great racing....back and forth battling it out....lance's driving improved significantly over the weekend.

scott and jim also duked it out each heat pretty good....jim usually had the upper hand but it seemed his motor would crap out every race on the last heat and scott would take the lead.

I did not go to the banquet/awards ceremony so i dont know what the season final results were. I had to get back up to vegas to go to work this morning. I hope someone else can chime in.
