1978 Southwind Formula 1
« on: March 27, 2010, 09:16:05 PM »
Just picked up this new project. Has a 454 BBC and a 12JG. It's a little rough in a few areas, but should turn out nice. Think I had more trouble trying to reorganize the boats I already have to make this one fit.

Very cool boat, I like the shape of the deck

You have got to replace those ugly a$$ trailer fenders  :P   ;D

Yeah, the trailer needs a complete overhaul. New bunks, carpet, and fenders. The owner told me that the guy he bought it from took the round fenders off and put those beauties on in there place...don't know why.

Those look like stock 502 valve covers! Maybe the old owner was mis informed , I'd run the numbers just for the hell of it.

Thanks for bringing that up. I'll check into it. The owner was telling me that the motor was all purple including some tall valve covers that were on it. I guess a friend of his liked them and traded his(502 looking covers) for the purple ones. I was told the boat runs 70-72mph, but I'll have to do my own testing. ;D

just squirtin

Don't really want to sell it, but already have a running boat and this one is just taking up space...Plus I got some home projects I have to finish before the baby is born in June. Don't like the prices make an offer. Thanks Jared      http://yuma.craigslist.org/boa/2801440066.html

Nice find! I like the scheme on the deck and the dual starters. I'd do away with the windshield.
