I've got a couple quick questions about the reverse turn camshaft.

why not run an idler type gear drive for less $ than a unique cam?

What was done with distributor?

If it was done back when cam grinders were trying all kinds of wierd stuff, I can understand, but anymore it's not worth the money to build this way.

Here are some pictures of the Kona.  I bought it from a guy in Fullerton in Aug.  It is a 1971 with an OLDs 455, Berk pump, B impeller (going to be an AA).  I currently have the boat stripped to do some resto.  These pics were sent to me buy the seller, before I bought it.  The shine in the pics is from the good ol wipe down with Marvel and a rag.  Needless to say, it will look that shinny w/o the marvel when is goes back together.

No, it looks like that laminate that is on cabinets.  Man, if it was real wood, it would probably weigh a ton!

Thanks.  Well, maybe it is wall paper!  I would have never guessed that! That is pretty cool, it will keep the weight down.  That is why I like this site, there is a wealth of knowledge and help here.

That 'wood' isn't anything that was used on cabinets or wall paper. It was made just for using on boats. Called 'pacalite' for something, I can't remember right now the name of it. It's tissue thin and the customer could order what ever kind of look he or she wanted for the wood.  You just change the color of the gel coat backing it up, dark=walnut, lighter=maple or pine or what ever the hell was needed. The earlier version of it was very crude and the lines that were printed on the cloth were big and ugly. The later stuff didn't look as bad, very fine art work, and looked very nice...if you're into that kinda thing. We sold countless boats, as did most builders, with that phoney wood look.
