The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I'm done now, the motor in the Advantage came out yesterday and is in the back of my truck on its way to get checked out. The Rogers gets its motor pulled when I get back this afternoon, it needs a rebuild.

Chief , in most V-drives that is actually the right location for a motor . Unfortunatly it does not give you that much in the way of leg room . Whether or not it was moved there or not , I dont know . That's Jerry's (v-drive video) boat and I'm not sure if he still has it or not . Nice sled though .  ;)

Somebody just explained the engine locations. On a v-drive you put the motor forword to set the ride hight of the boat. With the motor forword you dont have to drag the plates to get it to ride right. Where in a jet i guess you want the ass end planted where the water is. We just go over the top.

Good looking boat  ;D

Was the engine moved forward or did it come that way?

My boat was built originally by Hondo boats for circle racing. It was called the Dailey Double because then owner/driver (Bob Dailey) liked to gamble.

This is a picture of it from 1976.

Getting a v-drive to "set" right is bit of a balancing act. Flatbottom v-drive boats built for speed must also be rigged for speed. For example, if you guys come across a flatty with the engine back against the transom, it's probably going to have back seats and more of a ski boat rigging. Setting them up this way opens up more passenger space  but makes them more prone to porpoising (not good for speed or safety).

My Hondo (I've had it since 94) has both, the back seat and raceboat rigging. The down side is nobody wants to ride in the back seats because there's practically no leg room and the headers get HOT! I use the back seats for camera cases, Ice chests and kids or 1 adult sitting crossways.

Unlike my other boat, this one is no trailer queen. ;D

I'm going to assume you mean the K-jet (there was a flatbottom named Hurry Round Hondo 1st).  I don't have a bunch of stories but as a kid I remember that boat was tough to beat. One year in San Diego, they let the HRH race with the KRR's (flatbottoms) and Rick Lee driving beat all the prop boats, twice!.

If you guys want circlejet stories, you should interogate Roger Finney. 8)
