My first jet. 69 schiada

heres a lil peach i found and bought today. 1969 Schiada 16' 355 SBC 10:1 rv cam berk B-pump. all O.G. including the upholstery.The plans are to either throw some towels over the seats and use it this season, or see if i can get a deal and re structure the seating configuration. carpet is high on the list. funds are low but shes a runner! the gel is in pretty damn fine condition since it is a 40 year old boat. the glass in the floor is gorgeous. has stainless tanks.
i do need to replace the cables though. i gotta figure out what model morse they are.
forgive my ignorance, but i have never seen a pump nozzle like the one i have. its got like some scoop deal where the fin normally goes. anyone shed some light on that? also i got a extra set of edelbrock exhaust with it.

hey deggo, Nice boat...I say if it's a runner, hold the towels to the seats with bungees and run it this season...JG pump and that scoop thing is the reverse bucket.

Nothing wrong with a small block either, they run well and sip fuel like a fine Tennesee sippin whiskey..

FWIW, i have a nozzle that will work a little better on that badboy if your not planning for a Place Diverter for a while....

Those nozzles there have a bunch of material hanging down and experience some drag, the later ones are shorter, you will lose a little reverse action, but worth it in the long run...I will get a pic of it tomorrow night.

I will give it to you if you want it, just gotta get it to you...I would be willing to bet that there are a hundred of the later JC, JG nozzles down your way...

(Everybody puts Place Diverters on their boats)......A boat that short may not benefit from a rudder.....

Forgot to mention the best way to budget for a new boat, everytime you have cash in your pocket, take all the bills under a $20 and give it to the boat

cool, good info. so is it just cut down? i can do that, i'm a metal fab guy. ill take the one off your hands, price is right! i'm not too worried about a rudder, everyone i know used to have one till they hit the bottom at the river. everyone says they're only good when docking etc. i don't plan on docking the boat much.

the starter seems to drag a little, its got the big ole 454 starter, anyone use a hi torque mini? wheres a good place to get one?

Well heres what i got done today
Got a new wiring light kit for the trailer
Got a new 2'' hitch to weld on the trailer instead of 1-7/8"
Got a new strap for the winch
Ordered a new steering kit and forward reverse cables. thanks tom
Ordered a tiki shifter knob
got carpet and upholstery samples
started removing the spray paint from the headers.
does anyone know if you can polish and then powdercoat clear the exhaust logs, or will they yellow?
Still got a ton of work to do!

Hey Kevin... I have the old nozzle and reverse bucket off my pump that I'll give you. As for the mini hi-torque, there is a guy in Parker that builds them. I've got his card at home I'll PM you when I find it. As for the logs and snails, if you wanna drop the coin to polish them a clear p-coat them it will hoild up fine. My luck with clear p-coat in the sun is that it will eventually start to turn, but like anything else you spend the time doing a little up keep and you should be able to keep it looking good for a long time.

As for a name... Bo named mine "The Little Brown Jug." Since it won't be brown when I'm done I'll let you assume the rights to the name.

Hey brian, I think gt has got me set on the nozzle. I'm gonna mess with the starter tomorrow and see if she quits stickin on me. I'm welding the hitch on this weekend, and havin a buddy of mine check out the wiring and stereo Sunday. Got alot of work to do before next weekend
