Dana 60 wanted!
« on: August 30, 2011, 11:28:19 PM »
Hey guys, I'm looking for a ford Dana 60 from 1978-79. High pinion, kingpin axle. I rockcrawl my fullsize dodge but my d44 is crapping out. I'm trying to keep things cheap so if you have any ideas let me know.  ;)

phoenix craigslist had some listed in the last week, i got mine complete for $700, there is also a guy on www.virtualjeepclub.com that had several, all differant prices.  i realize they are in phoenix, but we could probably set up the SCJB parts express to get them moved around.

Is that full size dodge drivers' side drop (lh) like a ford? or pass side drop, like a G.M. (rh)? I've got a d60, king pins, pass side drop, 4.56 & gov lock. kinda big for the CJ7 ;D 2) 14-bolt rears, th400's sm 465's, 205's, and a T-34 and a 202? combo

Thats all I got

d60s are perfect for a wrangler or cj, in the process of doing front and rear d60's in mine with front and rear four link and hydraulic steering

My CJ is mostly stock D30, AMC 20 w/ 1 pc axles, 3.55 gears, 304 2bbl, sm 465, np205, 4" superlift springs, 33" bfg's, 45.5:1 low range

Why not a 14-bolt in the rear? or a ford 9"

nice,  I wanted a 14 in the rear but got a great deal on a set of 60's, rear full float but a ball joint front, so I sold the front and basically ended up with a rear diff for free, going 5.38 gears 4.0l efi, eventually an atlas 4:1, 42x14.50x17's, 24" belly, 4" uptravel, 14" down travel strapped at 12", 112"wb, pic shows the jeep at ride height with a set of 40's next to it

Looking for a ford d60, king pin, driverside drop, hp. I'm trying to stay on the cheap side so anything over a grand is a no go. I realize that is asking alot but I have to pinch pennies to stay on the river! I saw that one in AZ but the shipping would be too much. I priced the shipping on one a month or so ago and the shipping was almost the same price as the axle. I got a buddy going to look at a set in Murrieta today or tomorrow for me. This swap is going to be hell! It'll be worth it in the long run though.

Interested in the 60 and 4.56's. It's driver side drop. What year is the axle?

under a grand should be no problem, i paid $700 for mine, 78 ford, high pinion, king pin, all steering still attached (not that i will use it), only thing it was missing was one manual locking hub, which did not bother me as I will run slugs in the front.

Found a early 90's axle in murrieta. Dude's selling a d60 front, kingpin etc, and a matching sterling rear. Both have 4.10's. I'm going to swap em' for 4.56's and probably won't even use the rear. I already rebuilt the limited slip in my chrysler 9.25 and geared it to 4.56's. Dude wants $1200 for the set but i'll probably just sell the rearend for a couple hundred bucks. Have a buddy checking them out for me due to the fact that i'm still stuck on this crap island! One month left! Can't wait!

doesnt sound like a bad deal, why not run the sterling and sell the 9.25? i know you just did the ls but if upgrading to a one ton front why not do the rear, you could sell the 9.25 and probably build the sterling.
