Kaweah and Success Lakes
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:05:13 PM »
Hello....Just signed up on this site and was wondering if anyone is anywhere near Lake Success or Kaweah??? I'm about ten minutes down the road from Success. Also, I was wondering how I post pictures of my boat on my profile? Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you.

Ive heard of those lakes (Lake Success or Kaweah), just dont know where they are.

There are a few of us from the central valley on here though. And sometimes these SoCal boys sneak up here to play in the water, before we pee in it  >:D .

 Welcome.

Propless, Your only about an hour away from Kaweah! Thats if your coming from Clovis. Its' just about 15 minutes east of Visalia. As far as Success goes, I wouldn't waste your time with the drive! It's very convenient for me though since it's just right up the road. I'm there 3-4 times a week....waters like glass.

Last time I went to Lake Success, the water was an easy 1/2 mile from the bridge that goes over the 190.  I've been there before when it was at flood level, and I've seen it when it looked like a pond.  What's it like this year so far? Kaweah is one I want to hit, along with the Kings River. Any idea how long there will be water in the river this year?

Oh yeah, welcome.

As of right now the water's pretty high. Since the army core of engineers came and said our damn is "unsafe"...they start draining the water early in the season. No, right now you can go under the bridge VERY easily and can go back through the trees up the river a ways. Kaweah is full and looks killer this year. As for the Kings...It was very low the last time I went by it (which was about 2 weeks ago) and it didn't even look like it was worth the drive with the boat.

Went fishing @ Kaweah last weekend and it has to be at about close to 100% full.  The second launch ramp / parking lot is under about 20' of water.  the vents on the sh*tter in the parking lot are the only thing we could see sticking out of the water.
I didn't do it... ok, it was me.

I am about 1-1.5 hours away from both. I drove up the 65 past the exit to success three times this weekend.

Erick44,
If you search under the boat showcase forum for My Jet Boat Pics you can see my boat. It's a 1974 cheyenne Daycruiser (blue/white and woodgrain). When do you usually go up to success?....I'm usually there on Tuesday's, Thursdays, Fridays, and sometimes Sat or Sun. What are you in?

Kona, I can't believe how full Kaweah is right now! It's so much bigger than Success....and theres always so many women laying around wearing damn near nothing    :-* The only bad thing I can say about Kaweah is the parking situation....I have went on a busy saturday before and had to park on the highway about a half mile away from the launch. And it has taken me between 30-45 minutes just to load my boat after the day is over. I'll have to meet you up there one of these weekends!

I live just 3 miles from the new boat ramp at Kaweah lake and as of 5/31 it is completly full. It wont last very long, only about 10 before thay start leting water out. Parking is still a bit messy sat. and sun.. during the week only a few boatsout most of them fishing. during the eavning when the water calms down it is great. the new ramp is a whole lot better than the of two ever was.

Anyone heading up to either of the "mud-holes" soon? I haven't seen Kaweah lately but I'm sure it has to be better than Success!

Me and the ol' lady went up to Success today with the cruiser! The lake's more of a pond....but with only me on it, it was actually very nice. Island is sticking out of the water by a good three feet...and theres a few unmarked low spots...but all in all, great day! The cruiser fired right up and ran great

Went to Salmon, Idaho this summer for a wedding! Took a jet boat trip along the salmon river and also had a buddy up there with a 18' flatbottom with a 468 chevy....best natural lake ever! It was a blast!
