I have seen cam timing being off causing this.

Just curious, what did it turn before the rebuild? Any popping, missing, stumbling, etc... ??? Any signs of anything awry other than it won't turn rpm?

Been there... done that... banged head against wall, greyed a few hairs, and said lots of cuss words because of it

Only thing is typically if a coil is crapping out, usually it will miss... stumble... something other than just hit a wall.

Mine did this once. Dirty fuel filter and carb. Cleaned both then good to go. Good luck.

Why 8PSI?
I'm running a Mallory pro comp fuel pump pushes 14 psi. So I put a regulator on it. 10 psi floods the carb
