Hey guys I'm a little concerned about the cooling temp on my BBC Berkeley jet 20 ft closed bow cruiser  all stock 150 hrs on the engine. Was in Havasu a couple weeks ago engine was hitting 180* in the chanel but going up or down river running 150 deg 160 deg. Is this normal i have a gate valve it was a little closed but now fully opened, the boat responds when you get on it out of hole any advice.

Thanks in advance.

I had to open my valve more when cruising through the channel. Shallow water on a lake is going to be warmer and with that long no wake zone, your temp will rise a little more as you idle through.

Did you run it after the channel? Did it go back to normal?

Sounds pretty normal in warmer than normal water. You have to remember there is nothing to regulate temperature, just volume, so it would stand to reason it would be a bit warmer.

Don't panic until it won't cool back off.

If i get some free time tonight at work, ill play with it and post it for everyone to see.

Time to man up and yank it John!  :banghead:
