Hi Everyone,
This is my first post to the forum. I have a question regarding the use of a superchiller intercooler (water to air) in a jet boat that normally runs the lower Colorado River. I am putting together a mild blown motor for 21ft placecraft and was strongly considering the use of a intercooler. I have run blown/intercooler motors on the street but nothing like this on the river before.  I am not new to high performance motors or fast boats but have no experience with Blown river boats.  My concern is plugging the intercooler up with sands a sediments that are in suspension in the waters on the lower Colorado. Does anyone have any experience or educated opinions regarding this topic.
Thanks in advance for your help.
CK

I am using an intercooler on my BBC 496 10-71 blower in Blythe. Just finished it and ran it last weekend down in Blythe with no issues.

If you were in Blythe with intercooler with no SAND Strainer (I am sure you blocked it up a little) so much sand in that water. I try to stay away with no sand strainer.

I have all the necessary components to go with the blower/intercooler. Have a dump from the intercooler  that is constantly pushing water out of the side of the boat. I'm not worried running in blythe

You need to see strainer and a sand strainer I've been running a blower motor for many many years the intercooler gets clogged with debris is common especially in Blythe whether you have the dump or not you need to sand strainer Sand gets stuck in there.
I have a lee intercooler they're the best ones out there I've already had to replace the core two to three times due to debris from not running sand strainer sea strainer.

Thanks for all of the info. I never thought about a sea/sand strainer. Good idea. I assume any quality strainer will do the job. Thanks again.
