Title: Bassett Header - Stage 1 Silencer Muffler
Post by: mharden on June 10, 2019, 05:05:32 PM
Anybody selling any Bassett Header Stage 1 Silencer Mufflers on the forum?  I'm finishing out a 1974 Apollo jet boat rebuilt boat in Huntsville, AL with an Olds 455. I'm hearing that I need to stay in the low 80 decibel range (at idle at 50 ft minimum distance) to past loudness test for most lakes etc. The boat has water injected Bassett Headers with NO inserts currently.

Also... Anyone have recommendations I should consider before I spend $450 on the Bassett Website.

Thanks,
Mike

A boat with logs and snails WILL NOT pass sae J1970. However, that is usually overlooked.

With open headers, the only thing you can do it 'try to comply' with the law.

I don't know how Alabama law enforcement is about noise, but here at the river, (Bullhead City, AZ) as long as I have some form of insert, they left me alone. Been checked 3 times for baffles.

I used Speedway motors 'augers', and cut 2 of the augers off. Drilled the only auger left, full of half inch holes. Mine are 3.5" collectors. Bassett has 4" collectors.

Also try Jet Boat Performance
Or
C.P. Performance

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info. I'll go check it out. We don't have a lot these classic boats here... so I already know it's going to draw more attention than I'd like. Just want to set it up for ticket-free fun!! Thanks again!
