Absolutely, but the bolt will keep it from coming out unlike a small block

Ok, I've done some more reaserch and talking to others. My block is a gen5. Being I did not build the motor. I found out I need to see if the by pass to the oil cooler was removed. If not i need to plug it.

OK here it goes, I have a newer motor. I pulled the motor out plastic gauge main and rod bearings for clearance all checked out good. I put a new gauge, sender and even a mechanical gauge on the motor they both read the same oil pressure. So I do believe it's not a gauge issue. U fire the motor up 80 psi. Start to go up river get s little heat in it 40 psi at idle, you nail it it goes to 70 psi for s second then shoots down to 20 psi. I'm just blown away. Has any one else ever had this problem?

I run a ten quart Dooley and a MOROSO windage tray,  trap doors,  works great,  but with ten quarts,  the oil temp goes to the moon. Basically aerated oil. Pulled out a quart,  runs awesome. Trap doors are virtually unaffected by a tray.

GT
GT what moroso windage tray do you run? I'm going to make a order to summit racing and would like to get the correct one. Thanks in advance, Steve.

This POS.

I had to punch the dipstick hole larger,  it kept hitting the stick and bending it,  completely pissed me off.
Lol

Awesome thanks. I didn't know if I needed a full length windage tray or a partial for a stock oil pan. Thanks for all your help and knowledge GT

Previous to reading this thread I ran 10 qts in my pan. Pressure when cold was 80 and would drop as low as 20 psi. After reading this I ran 8 qts and psi doesnt drop below 40 psi. Valvoline 15-40 diesel oil. I might top it off with Lucas stabilizer and bring it up to 9 qts. Hydraulic flat tappets. Any opinions?
