Edelbrock Carb?

Ok, so whats the deal with Edelbrock carbs (I'm pretty sure I opened up a can of worms with this one)? In most threads Holley is carb of choice, just difficult to dial in, all the talk though. Q Jets seem when properly tuned they run hard, and easily maintained. What about Edelbrocks? Just curious, cause I'm in the middle of getting her fired up, and possible carb change. I bought a marine Edelbrock after reading reviews (amazon) and cost, to replace a Q jet (was that a mistake?). I just don't see any threads about Edelbrock carbs. Is there an obvious reason for that? With other members suggestions I'm installing a pressure regulator along with pressure gauge and inline fuel filters. Sorry for the ignorance folks I'm definitely learning a lot from this site and as I go along.
Set up, Carrera 202XR open bow, Marine power 454 sport pac 330hp (I think), all stock original parts, AT pump with A impeller and inducer rebuilt by GS Marine last season.

"Tire Chocks" should be good right outta the box.
But I've never been able to tune one to save my life.
Holleys are the easiest to tune for me.

I have no boat experience with them, However, I messed with one on a 350 in a car, and it out performed a holley that was set up for a BBC/berk. Secondary transition was tricky to get right on the eddy. Should work fine on a stock 330 combo, with some tuning.

Edelbrock carbs are just fine. I'm one of the nay sayers here when given a choice, but they truly are just fine!

Biggest thing is no one knows how to set them up and run them properly. Well, near no one. They are, for the most part, the old Carter AFB carb. The same carb used on the '63/'64 Superstock Dodge/Plymouths, the same carb used on the '64/'65 Superstock Pontiacs, and the same carb used in '66 to '71 on all Street and Race Hemi engines Chrysler made. Intake manifolds varied, mind you.

The biggest thing, as Omar said, in KNOWING how to tune one. Adjustable jets, linkage adjustments on the secondaries, idle, and high speed, mixture available at the turn of a screw....yeah, Holley guys have no idea how to handle that...........  :sly:

the best advise i can give you is too down load the manual from edelbrock. and stock up on those stupid rods!  had one of those carbs on a blazer. hated that carb till i got it right, then never had to think about it again.
