Got wood? I DO!!!
« on: May 21, 2011, 02:09:05 PM »
So Harry hooked me up with this, and then brings it to me this morning (Thans bro!  ) Much better than the lil 6-71 I was gonna use, and much better condition than the 10-71 littlefield I have.

It's fresh from the Mooneyham shop, but I need to flip the bearing plates and gears front to rear (making the front plate upside down, obviously) to make this work as a rear driven deal.

Anyone have experience clearancing and timing a blower or do I just need to bite the bullet and have a pro do it?

Thanks Mike! Since the changeup from an E-85 engine (The idea was scrapped when E-85 was pulled from all the local stations, albeit AFTER my shortblock was done and just waiting on the heads.... :banghead:  ), I need something that was gonna run cool enough, be underdriven, and on pump gas. I think if we stay with the same 514 format, changeup the pistons and/or go with shorter rods, we can hit 8.75:1 or so from the 10.5:1 we have it set up for now.

The shop is argueing they want me to go to 557 or something, and even lower compression and more boost since the 10-71 can easily do it. But it's not their money either,  >:D

THEN there's the MFI debacle. another matter entirely.  :banghead:

But it WILL WORK! Just killing me having this boat in my garage for a year unrunning..........

Ray

Since you aren't 15 minutes away from Mooneyham like I am,, might make sense to give them a call and see what advice they can give you.  They have been pretty friendly with me for what little business I have taken to them.

No Answer, but I dropped them an e-mail.

Maybe give River Dad a call.   They just finished some tits fabrication to make a rear-facing blower drive that leaves maximum room in the boat.  Its

Some bearing plates are pre drilled for the dowl pins and some you need to have set up and drilled in place like this magneseum Mooneyham rear pIate have here. I wouls say you could switch ends on a predrilled job but not so much on a fitted peice.

LMAO! Yeah I do!

The Mooneyham guy said "Yeah, you can do it, or we can do it, but the logo will be upside down and we'd rather get you a new front cover........"   :screwy:

Ray, I think you need to have your counter tops covered in stainless.  Maybe add a vise  ;)
