San Diego area jet boat shops?
« on: March 10, 2007, 08:02:34 PM »
I was wondering if anybody knew of any good jet boat mechanic shops in the San Diego area. I live in the East County area. The boat is a 19' Sanger flat bottom with a 460 BBF and a Berkley jc drive. Personal experiences and references, good or bad, would be much appreciated. Thanks everybody!

The only Jet Boat shop in San Diego in my opinion is JP Marine in Lakeside. The Guy's name is Joe and knows everything there is to know and has more parts then any other shop I have ever been to. And has lot's of race experience also.

Marcsrollin and hotrod56,
Thank you guys for your response. I just called Joe over at JP Marine, seemed friendly and was able to answer a couple of questions i had right up front. I also liked the fact that his availability was good, he said bring it in as soon as you can and we'll get crankin' on it. The other guy i called said 3 weeks before he had an opening, not good when the season is approaching so quickly! Im gonna bring it in on Friday and Joe said it should take about a week.
The problem i was having was that there was water in the oil but its not the head gasket. The guy i bought it from just put a new head gasket in it but couldnt figure out why water was getting into the oil. From a couple people i have talked to they said its most likely my water injected bassett headers valve getting stuck open and that its a pretty easy fix. A couple of hundred bucks and it should be ready to roll.
Thanks again, i'll repost with anything new i find out and about my service at JP Marine.

No, its a 460 Ford and yes, it is my water pressure regulator thats all messed up. JP Marine is gonna install a new one that i wont even have to turn on at a certain rpm, it will do it automatically. I cant remember the official name for it at this moment.

It sounds like it's probably a water valve, not a pressure regulator. Either way, Joe definately knows his business!!
