Octane Booster
« on: June 01, 2018, 08:17:14 AM »
I am pretty new to this on-line forum. But what I am wondering is if its okay to add an octane booster purchased from a discount store instead of purchasing the expensive high octane gas? I think I already know the answer but I am taking her out today, whether I have to get towed back or not!

I honestly dont think you will see a difference in performance from using an octane booster. That stuff is snake oil in my opinion.

Here is an interesting article showing the octane levels achieved from different boosters, ultimately compared to race fuel.

FWIW: I've got a just under 12:1 460 and run Torco, absolutely cannot run without it.  Boat runs fantastic.  Ends up about $6/gallon...way cheaper than $10 for race gas.
