MY FIRST BOAT, AND OBVIOUSLY MY FIRST TIME HAVING TO STORE IT DURING THE WINTER. I WANTED TO GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM ALL YOU VETS THAT HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FER YEARS.... I HAVE A 74 CHALLENGER, 454, OT HEADERS, AND A JUCUZZI PUMP. WHAT ARE SOME BASIC THINGS THAT I CAN DO TO PRESERVE THE LIFE OF HER DURING THIS DOWN TIME??? I CURRENTLY HAVE IT OUTDOORS WITH TOWELS STUFFED IN THE HEADERS, TOWEL IN SCOOP, COVERED WITH TOWABLE AND TARP. LESS THAN A 1/4 TANK OF GAS IN EACH TANK, AND SOME OIL & WATER BELOW ENGINE.... SHOULD I DRAIN FLUIDS? FILL 'EM? LET IT BE, JUS START IT A FEW TIMES A MONTH WITH WATER RUNNING THROUGH ENGINE????
WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO? WHAT SEEMS TO WORK?
                                                     WHAT DOES NOT WORK?

Here in Pa we drain the block, manifolds and blow out the hoses.   Then close it back up and dump in
a 50/50 antifreeze mix.   We don't fill it just about two gallons total between the block and exhaust.

We spray wd 40 on the intake and valve covers.   I leave off the dist cap and put in a paper towel and cover the dist.   I've had condensation under the cap before.

We also take off the carb, drain it and store it in a plastic bag in the garage.    Like you, we have all exhaust and manifold openings sealed off.

Oh and change the oil, grease the jet and universals.   In other words purge all the water and contaminents out of the system you can.

I've been doing it this way since 1977 with no issues.   ;D

Depends on the temp.  The only part I would skip would be the anti freeze if it isn't cold where you are.
I forgot sta bil for the gas.   That's probably the second most important part.

I wouldn't run the engine unless you can bring the oil to operating temp.   That would keep moisture from forming, a short run may do more harm in that regard than good.
Fill your tanks.

You invite condensation if you don't fill it.

THAT MAKES SENSE. SO IF I FILL THE TANKS SHOULD I USE THE GAS WITH A BOOSTER WHEN READY?

Fill tanks and use StaBill. SoCal does not have extreme cold weather, so winterizing is less difficult. My boat is in Texas and I use the White Trash method. Four 60 watt drop lights around motor to prevent freezing. With this method, boat has fired up every year with no problems. Good luck. Hell, with SoCal temps you can boat all year. I'm here working and itching for a jet ride! Any SoCal bros need a shotgun rider?

I dont' know anything about your booster so I can't comment on it.   I don't think I would put it in before storage if it were me though.   I would put it in right before I left for the lake so it would have mix time going down the road.   That again is just my feelings as I know nothing about what you are adding.
