I recently bought an old jet boat and I'm completely restoring it. I have the wj intake out now and will machine it for a shoe/rideplate. I noticed that the side fins are screwed onto the sides of the intake and are much smaller than the berk side fins I've seen online. I don't care for the way it's set up.....makes an uneven side wall for the final mounting into the hull and I would think it disrupts the flow with cavitation and the water goes over the side plate. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to get ride of the ones on there and weld on new ones more like the berk ones I've seen pics of online?? The side fins are also kind of pitted from corrosion.....seems like it might not be a bad idea since its' already out......opinions??
