Providing there is no Spar varnish or other crap on them...

Use Travaco's Te-Ka Teak cleaner. Once clean and dry hit them with some 320 to get the splintering to calm down and then oil em up with some Amazon's teak oil, two or three coats letting it dry between each.......

You will not be disappointed and it don't take much elbow grease...Been doing it that way for 25 years, there are no better products out there.
If i get some free time tonight at work, ill play with it and post it for everyone to see.

Time to man up and yank it John!  :banghead:

The problem with varnish on teak is the wood is really oily.....The varnish just sort of sits on the wood and does not really penetrate like it would on mahogany or ash. It also breaths so it like to expand at an unbelievable rate....Guess what happens when something expands and contracts when it is sealed up? I compare it to trying to paint over oil.

The varnish will simply peel like crazy once the water gets under it......

If you get the pores of the teak filled with teak oil (really like the Amazons) the finish will really hold up. We have had ours in the water for two weeks at Shasta, pull the boat out and hit them with the hose, let em dry and hit with a terry cloth and some Amazons and back to storage she goes...Sometimes I even put the oil in the microwave to heat it up a little, it makes it more thin and really gets down in there.... :sly:

Yeah I have some kind of finish on mine that makes it look alright. But half of it is peeling off, and that part looks like crap.
