I live just 40mi south of Fresno CA. I have always been curious about the Fresno Hull. Stupid question was it made in Fresno Ca? I had to ask ok so be nice. Is this a good boat? or was it a poor answer to the neighboring famous Sanger?

Isnt there a little town outside of frez called Sanger? I think the actual manufacturing facilty is a little north west of fresno.

Yea,  Sanger is a small town just southish of Fresno  (unless the recent rains have washed it away). But the Sanger boat factory is in Fresno.

MY PREVIOUS POST WAS A MISS LEADING QUESTION. I WAS NOT ASKING IF SANGER BOATS WERE MADE IN FRESNO CA. SANGER JET BOATS AND FRESNO JET BOATS ARE TWO DIFFERENT HULLS AND COMPANIES. MY QUESTION WAS WHAT CAME FIRST THE SANGER BOAT OR THE FRESNO BOAT. i KNOW SANGER MAKES A DAM GOOD BOAT, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FRESNO BOAT? WAS THE FRESNO MANUFACTURE UP THE ROAD WITH THEIR FRESNO HULL DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB AS WELL OR JUST A POOR ATTEMPT TO GO AFTER THEIR COMPETITOR SANGER BOATS. IN SHORT IS THE FRESNO HULL ANY GOOD? :banghead:

NO NEED TO YELL ABOUT IT !!    :sly:

I havnt heard anything bad about the Fresno Boats hulls.  But I think they where a heavier layup than some others and more of a family lake boat kind of deal.  If its in good shape It should work fine for just about anything you want to do, unless your planning on building an all out race boat.

BTW, there was also Belmont boats, and I think a few others that where made here in Fresno, and one in Clovis too.

I had a 21' Fresno for 6 or 7 years and loved it. I'm looking to buy another one this spring. Fresno Boats built a solid, quality hull, and I always thought the cruiser was especially good looking--rounded rather than the typical angular deck. I knew a couple of guys that owned the 18' jets and were very satisfied with their performance.

Older thread but thought i'd contribute a little bit since there isn't much on Fresno boats.

good lake boat, doesn't have full stringers. I think the glass work is very nice compared to some other boats I have looked at.

not the best pic of mine, motor was tore down and in shambles

The bottom looks a lot like my Hondo.  Does it have a delta pad type or rounded keel?

I purchase a Fresno Flatbottom in 1972.  A couple of fellows named Marty Sharp and Dale Wagnon were the owners.  Dale did most of the glass work and manufacturing, Marty ran the office and business end.  They were just getting into the jet boat scene about the time when jets were becoming very popular. (I still liked the prop jobs)

Originally their shop was up on North Abby in Fresno but they moved to a new manufacturing shop on Shaw Ave in the mid 70's I believe.

I thought their boats were very well made.  They were not what I'd call a "mass producer".  They made them one at a time and Dale was very good glass man, attention to detail.   Both were very honest businessemen which says something about the work they did.

I was sorry to hear that Marty died of heart attack some years later and I suppose this closed up their business.  Dale Wagnon is still living in Fresno but I suspect he is long retired by now.

I have a 1970 17 Fresno flatbottom v-drive with Chev 427. Great boat. Always used as ski boat.
No problems ever. Hull is as solid today as when new.
