Just picked up this boat and it is my new project.  Its a 1969 biesemeyer jet boat with a 455 olds motor in it.  Has a mild cam, mallory distributor, msd ignition coil, edelbrock intake manifold and carb, also a carb scoop.  Hardin marine valve covers, nicson headers, berkley jet.  Has original paint that I plan on restoring same with the interior.  have any tips or ideas that will help make  Ive taken her out 3 times and can tell i will always own a boat, its too much fun.  Here are a couple pics of the very beginning.

Sweet deal ! Could you describe the guy you bought it from . I think I remember seeing it at elsinore once . That guy was having some pump issues out there . The O-ring around his nozzle had gone to shit and was losing all kinds of pressure . I gave him what little advise I could and never saw it again . I used to have a hull just like this but it never came to fruition . Welcome to the site as well . I personally cant wait to see some progress on this .

I would also like to hear what people know about biesemeyer as well.  How decent are the hulls and are they good boats?

Yeah im sure you did see it out at elsinore.  The guy i bought it from lives here in temecula and  is kinda chubby red hair.  When i got it the throttle linkage on the carb was rusted so bad it wouldnt budge, the fuel pump wasnt working and none of the guages were either.  What kind of advice did you give him?  The firing order was backwards and the points in the distributor were shot.  So i got the points and condensor replaced and got the timing right, and took her out again and she runs great.  Just wondering if i could be getting a little more out of her.

Biesmeyer in general are good boats . I dont know if they were using someone elses bottoms but I know the top was splashed at least 2 times by others.  Cruisers around that time were built very well and for the most part are tanks . I was in parker this weekend and my 21' Hallett just hammered across all the chop . I'M NEVER GETTING RID OF MY CRUISER !

Thats the guy . It seemed to running fine when I saw him . I just told him to replace the O-ring around his nozzle cuz it was shooting all kinds of water everywhere . I think you've pretty much got it , just give it a really good tune up which I guess you already did . Just enjoy it .

I got a little info on mine but I'm pretty sure they are diffrent bottoms . Got any pics from the rear of the boat .

Nice boat. Welcome to the site. Biesemeyer boats are great boats. The hull is incredibly thick and strong.

I read that it's your first boat, so I'm just going to ramble on for a minute. 

The Olds 455 is a great engine for a family boat or just cruising around. It's got good power and if treated properly should treat you really well. You don't want to hold the RPM's over 4500 for extended periods of time. Make sure it's got a larger than stock oil pan on it as well. Jet boats don't have transfer cases, so you may want to drop that off of your description in the future. If you want to, you can clean your intake with Simple Green, a brush, and a lot of elbow grease. There's a valve near the pump on the inside of the boat in the back. That valve controls how much water goes into your engine and also determines how hot or cold the engine's temperature is going to be while you're cruising around. Don't move that valve a lot at once, move it gradually and somewhat slowly until it's at the temp you want the engine to run at, say 150 or so degree's. You want as little amount of water going in and still have it running cool. Some people say to not run your engine with the boat on the trailer, others tell you to put a garden hose going into the pump so that the pump gets water whenever it's turning (engine running). OK, my two typing fingers are getting tired.

Oh yea, never run the engine while it's on the trailer and have the pump completely dry. It will be a quick demise for your pump.

Nice boat and welcome to the site, I see you have great taste in boats and beer as I noticed the coors light on the deck. Oh and just my .02 ditch the paper air filter and get a spark arrester or a k&n.

From what i have been told by the rangers is, the paper filter is just a ticket waiting to happen, Switch it over before you go out again. Put a scoop on it, it will go faster or at least look better J/K

l&l marine is in corona off the 91, but i would get a spark arrester first. my .02

Got a spark arrestor and scoop on summit should have it in  a couple days.

 No really wanabe is right it is a cruiser not a hot rod.

New pics of the scoop and rear of the boat as asked.  Going out this weekend to laughlin hopefully next week the interior will get started, and going to send out the intake manifold, valve covers and the t-stat cap to get blasted.  She looks a lot better
