Steering shaft column removal
« on: April 29, 2011, 07:53:36 PM »
I need to get the steering off the console for some refurbishing. How do I get the column off the shaft? I already removed the steering wheel, hub and a spring clip. It is a 1976 jet boat, it has a square box attached behind the console he shaft goes into. Don't know if that helps.

Need some pictures, we're a visual group... ;)

Typically there is either a flange bolted through the dash or a bulkhead apparatus that retains the actual column.

Most of the jetboats of that era either had a Morse or a Quicksilver (Mercury Marine) Ride Guide deal, if you post up a picture it will help to identify it.

If i get some free time tonight at work, ill play with it and post it for everyone to see.

Time to man up and yank it John!  :banghead:
