I have a 91 baha 188 islander. It has a v-6 4.3 engine with the yamaha outdrive. Everytime i put it into gear it dies. I unplug the shift interrupt switch  and it doesn't die. I can run it sll day long. I have replaced the switch and it still does the same thing. What else could cause it to die.

The security guard came up to me in the parking lot and started kissin' my ass about how sorry she was and how she thought it was an AOL employee since she had 2 of their cars towed and that she always liked me and loves her job blah blah blah...All of a sudden I'm feelin' sorry for her when I'm the asshole (I know you can all agree with that) who got his car towed and paid the $200!  To keep a long story longer..The security company is gonna pay me back and when I was asked about it by my boss I told her that the guard was alright and collapsed like a cheap suit..For some reason I ended up feelin' bad for the broad cause she is always cool with me she just fuked up and I hate to see anyone loose their job...What an F'n sucker!  Already put 475 miles on the car though....

Sounds to me like you need to pull the drive and the final housing and replace the lower shift cable and check for binding in the linkage.

Common problem.

I recommend getting it fixed asap and not leaving it that way because it can make it very difficult (of not impossible) to get the drive out of gear near the docks.

Let me know if you need done guidance.
