Never heard of a Jacuzzi GE pump.

Jacuzzi made three models commonly used in the boats we see.

1. WJ is a mixed flow pump similar to a Berkeley.  Best pump available from Jacuzzi and a good all around pump.

2.  YJ is a axial flow pump.  Not as desireable, but still a decent pump if you're not looking for all out top speed.

3.  YJ/Golden Eagle, based on the YJ design, but is an insert type pump (doesn't use a bottom mounted intake housing like the standard YJ or WJ type pumps but requires the intake to be molded into the design of the bottom of the boat.

Post some pictures if you have any and we'll tell you what you are looking at.

Yah its a golden eagle. I found a charger hull on cl fo free and it has one of these pumps and basically to keep it free im gonna take the yj I have and give it to him. The hull seems sturdy and with a good buff the gel should look good. but I do believe the guy im getting it from is the boatsalavge1 guy that everyone is so fond of. If anyone is familiar with the 2 free boat add on cl its the black and blue one. Im hoping I can take what I have and put it in the hull and be closer to the water than I am now.

I'm baaack! At least I think the PC issues are sorted out........ :banghead:

Anyway, The GE pump is a different animal. I did a swap last summer in my old Charger of the complete GE Pump for fresher one that had the Energizer kit and a Place Diverter on it. The old one developed a helluva shudder that I still can't explain fully even after dissassembly.

This is what they look like all apart. Note the impeller more resembles a desk fan.....

And this is what an "Energized" version looks like.

FWIW, as it is, it's a good pump for larger, heavier boats at moderate RPM. It'll never be a speed demon, and I wouldn't recommend astronomic RPM with it, as if that'd do anything for it anyway. I never GPS'd  my 19' Charger before the swap, but I'd say it was a solid 45 MPH boat, downriver, with a tail wind...........After, with the energizer, we GPS'd 55 with it at Big River, and a best of 59.4 after some tuning last summer. Theres more in it with shoe/rideplate adjustments and maybe adding a droop and loader, but for a boat as heavy as that Charger is with a very mild 455, that's not too bad.

Somewhere I have pictues of removing/replacing the entire pump, but I wouldn/t recommend that, since the suction/intake is one unit epoxied to the hull ( VERY WELL, I might add). The pump can be rebuilt/upgraded without pulling it or the engine. Replacing the pump with another type, say a Berk, is a huge endeavor, while the Energizer upgrade is quite pricey. However I've seen some smoking deals if you keep watching the boards and C/L for used ones.  ;)

Thanks for the info. Im not really concerned with speed Just want a nice cruiser that will keep up with my friends 20' open bow carerra with a berk jc. But most importantly i want Something that floats and moves under its own power and something that will pull a tube and the family can enjoy.
