NEW LAWS
« on: January 16, 2007, 04:29:33 PM »
O0 mooring ordinance was the worst water-related rule passed in 2006. It prohibits mooring, idling or standing within 25 feet of the eastern channel "sea board." On the east side, mooring tie downs are spaced every 15 feet.

u want to be with your friends, and you can't stay in groups with the spacing."

Honestly, I have never understood the channel...why do people hang out there? The air quality sucks with all the exhaust fumes....the water is just nasty....and there is tons of cops, so the likelyhood of getting arrested for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time is very high.

Personally, if I want to see boobs and get hammered without worrying about the cops giving me a hard time, I will head up to the sand bar or disneyland....or even copper canyon. I know theres cops at each of those places, but they arent as bad as the channel.

Last time I cruised through the channel, my cousin and I got rolled hard, so I have my reasons to avoid that place like the plague.  >:D

youre required to have a life vest for each person on the boat....and I think theres something that you have to wear it if youre under a certain age (12 i think  ???) ....also, have your ID and insurance....other things you might want are a fire extinguisher, paddle (life saver if you break down), and a red flag....

the red flag might be required.....not sure about that one....I am way out of date with my boating safty requirements  :D

The Channel never did that much for me other than trying hide your brews for the Po Po 8) the best thing about Havasu is testing your mite going full throttle across the lake and having your Weed Wacker Cat handle like a Caddy going the 75 down the freeway

those "pigs" you refer to are the men and woman that help you sleep at night.

with that being said, I know how the local law enforcement is in havasu. I have been going there since before I could walk. yes, at times they seem to interupt a good time at the worst time possible, but you have to remember that havasu is probably one of the most popular boating areas in the south west.  MTV's spring break in the 90's and girls gone wild gave every first timer out there a very bad faulse impression and really hurt the towns image and since then, its attracted the wrong crowd.

The cops there are nice if you respect them, even if you have done something wrong and are sitting on their bow in cuffs. They do care and they arent crooked. They are just there to do their job. Their job is just a bit tougher then most cops because they have to deal with tourists who think they can break the rules just because they dont live there.

no, i have never experienced such thing on that lake. They dont come up to your secluded beach lookin to bust you for havin a good time either.

As far as the cops harrasing you.....bottom line is dont bring attention to yourself and you should be ok. common sense is key. Just dont give them a reason to look your way.  ;D

those "little pigs" are keeping you safe, but also with a cost, what if some f'ed up a'hole was hallin ass on the water & crashed into your family? i am no way a cop/game warden but put yourself in there shoes. promote a safe enjoyable water way for everyone. i've been at the bridge w/ a cooler & watched the madness, butt ass naked chicks walking around, the good liquid being taken, & the good plant taken in front of the out numbered police without seeing anyone busted except for some dum ass
gangsters causing violent probems, the officers get my respect, you need to see things in there eyes, grow up & respect them.
now that was harsh, but there job is harsh, you boat because its fun? respect there boundries & maintain yourself & fun will become yours. i do'nt go out to get hasseled, so i avoid those situations, & those " pigs" DO PROTECT & SERVE, keeping us safe.
boat safe, party hard & remember, respect.

I am in full agreeance with rooster. As my uncle is retired after 25 years with the lhcpd and i know most of the officers as well as the sgt and lts. They are all a bunch of good guys and i am glad to see them out in force keeping all the idiots in line. It only takes a couple to ruin a great time. So I hope they keep it up.

If you're sitting over in a cove getting messed up I sure as hell don't want to be near you on the water afterwards.  There is a reason that there are laws against boating under the influence.  Chances are, if you get in an accident on a boat it will hurt MUCH more than a car with all of the safety features out today.  The nice thing about Havasu is that you can haul ass in pretty open water.  My suggestion is that most of the drinking be left until you are off of the water.  Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a couple of beers throughout the day, but get all messed up after the boat is on the trailer and off the water!

Safe boating to all!

Here to answer all your ASSuming Jundgement of myself. Tom949 When i go to the lake i always have the ol lady drive out of there (she don't drink.) And Rooster sounds like to me you need to stay on the bridge and just watch! Your bitchen about naked women walking around ???WOW. I wouldnt want to see that either :D.  I see by reading your little post you might need a update on things and get back to reality. The lil piggies always seem to go for the people that are (kicken it at a little secluded beach) instead of that asshole gettin ready to get in his boat all messed up. Or the guy trying to fight every person that walks him. Ya need a reality check buddy. I bet you 3/4 of the people on this site have been harrased in some sort of way by the lil piggies, When they were just minding there own business. If it's not them cruising by 100 times in an hour watching over you like a little baby it's something else. So maybe you need to take a look at yourself and realize if you were a cop you would probably do the same. piggy

I don't know when the last time you were up at the sandbar is, last time I was up there the cops were sitting outside with binoculars watching the people drinking and seeing if they were driving.  I have NEVER been stopped coming out of there after not drinking.  I have also never been messed with sitting in a secluded cove.  The only time I have EVER been stopped out there is when one of my idiot friends was hanging out of my boat in the no wake zone.   And as far as the cops not arresting people ready to fight?  Dre---Was there not a delay in leaving Havasu last year because someone was arrested for, oh snap, FIGHTING!

As far as looking at myself, coming back to reality, whatever other BS you have, I am NOT a cop and therefore cannot say what any one of them would or should do!

If you want sympathy for being messed with by cops take it somewhere else.  Its part of life, if you aren't doing anything wrong there is usually nothing to worry about.  I have watched them arrest numerous people for BUI, fighting, and a whole bunch of other stuff.  They don't care if you're having a good time out there as long as you are responsible about it!
