OK where is everything ?
« on: March 13, 2008, 10:23:14 PM »
My Aunt has a house in parker - I haven't been there since I was 8 - and it's not like I got to visit all of the infamous places. So are there detailed mapas anywhere to tell me where sandbar, channel, the canyons, etc are?

I'm sure Brad will chime in on this one, he's been going there for a long time. Ask him for directions to the bar down the street from his pad.  >:D  :D

I'm still kind of a newbie to the Parker Strip and would like to find a detailed map for the area.  Something with landmarks visible from the water would be nice.

Speedy,
Way down a dirt road off the side of HWY 95 is a place that is called the Desert Bar. I have never personally been there but hear its pretty cool. Since there are no lights down the dirt road they close at dusk I think. Hopefully soneone will chime in.

I think I read the first post wrong. :banghead: Copper Canyon use to be fun. Lots of cops patrol it now so the titty flingin just isnt what it use to be. Still kinda fun. The sandbar is up river once you get past the island by the london bridge. I hear that place is still fun. Are you going to be on the river or on Lake Havasu?

I'm in OC, so it's the same drive to everywhere. I need a wild place for me and the wife, or for guys trips - and I need a mellow to reasonable place when I have my 3 year and 8 year old with me.

Basically, I need input on where things are, what they are like, and decide the trip based on that and what I am going for. I think the last time I was at london bridge, it was 1979 and I was with my parents.  I would say my data is a little stale.

Wow!!! My experiences at the sand bar werent too kid friendly. It was more like soft core porn and that was only last summer. I know that copper canyon is very kid friendly and every time i was there, there werent too many boats in there.

You could always take them for learning experiences.  They could learn how not to behave when they are older. So the other half of the sandbars are ok for your kids?

I found out about the sandbar on sunday and went there.  Only a few people out.  I could see how it could get dirty on a weekend though.  Fun place.

I have been there. Its an old copper mining town that was abandoned and some dude built a house and a bar out in the middle of no where. Its all solar powered. Cheap drinks and decent music. But I dont think there open during the summer. Its about 8 miles into the desert and theres cops all over the place. Nothing but a narrow dirt road to get there.

yeah, ive been there alot! its so fun...i believe its off of 'desert springs rd' turnoff just 5 miles south of the parker dam on the AZ side obviously...ive seen everything go out there, including minivans, and the owner, whom of which uses one to take some of the alcohol out there...its a bitch'n place! open from labor day to memorial day, dawn to dusk.

Nice boat is nice!
