KOA Blythe
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:36:42 PM »
Well I made a Res at the KOA Blythe for Fri June 11 to Mon the 14th. It's with a group of friends, family, that have been going to Park moabi for years. I know the (other) gathering is the following weekend. Not sure how I am going to work it out yet. Is anyone else going to be out there then ??? And the other question I have is, what is it like there if anyone has stayed there. I do have one of the 6 person cabins.

Know nothing about it, but sounds like I might have a pretty full month workin my way upriver! I'm down for it! Kids'll be back east for the summer again, I'll be bored, and Pickle hasn't seen the river yet...... ;D

In Blythe, you say?

Is that the place just south of I-10 off Riviera Dr. If it is it looks like a nice place (from the river never been to the campsite) looks like it has a little lagoon and a pretty big launch ramp.  It near a couple of sandy beaches, the only thing Negative (for me) is that it is pretty close to the I-10 bridge.

Its a pretty nice place. Its gone through several different owners, but overall well maintained.  The cabanas (did) or have bunks, queen, and a hide a bed.  At one time they supply propane for the bbqs not sure if they still do or not. I was out there this past weekend, water was up on sat. If you go up river stay to the left past the bridge, nasty log and sand bar. hope this helps

I have been going to that part of the river for my long 28 years of life. :)  As of last year the cabins and marina are nice.  I have done all my boating south of the bridge.  It seems to be a little deeper.  There are some nice beaches on the east side a couple miles south of the bridge.  Have a great trip.

Was out there last weekend. took the boat for a run up to Mayflower kicked it with some great peeps up there. Water was high weather was nice and the boat did its job .
I will be heading back out there this weekend to setup the trailer and get situated for the season. Nice camp ground, its under new management again, i swear they change management every season  :sly:.
Sandy beach in one area, and has gas station on water as well as in the parking lot, according to new management all pumps are functional. Has a fenced in dog play ground right next to the lagoon and swimming pool, store and ect...

We camp for the summer at the KOA every year and we really like it alot.  It changed managers again, but I am told they are supose to be good (time will tell). I love the amenities the park has.  It is pet friendly, has it's own laundry facility, arcade, swimming pool, launchramp, store and fuel.  The hookups are all full hookups (water/power/sewer) and most sites have a nice patio and picnic table.  The cabanas need to be rented pretty far ahead and are around $125 a month.  The old managers use to give a discount if you were refered by a monthly rental person (10% I think) but not sure if this is still true.  You can rake your golfcart or SXS to cruise around the park in, but they were frowning on quads and go carts (obnoxious family running into stuff ruined that). There is a basketball court for the kids to play on and a lagoon you can park in for the night, but be careful when the water drops that you don't moor your boat up too high on shore or it'll sit there half the day wiating to get back out  :D

Enjoy your summer everyone and stop by to say hi anytime you're in the park. We are on the end of the island on the right side of the park.

Just got in, the place is pretty cool, the cabins were real nice. A fun trip, and of course my boat ran tits as usual. Didnt get to explore as much as I would have liked to, cause I am seriously thinking of bringing my trailer there

Never been there but passed it several times both on the water and the road, my brother (slowkona) and his wife own in riviera. We were playing out there over the weekend. It looks super nice but as you mentioned 76nordic huge sand bar just passed the bridge (upriver) and a ton of jet ski's.

Made a mistake in the last post. Sevans01 mentioned the log and sand bar not 76nordic. Either way its huge.

Oh yeah I have seen the log and Hug sand bar on the West side of the bridge, you are usually safe if you keep to the California side of the river. We mostly hang down by Goose flats and do most of our boating down river. We camp at the KOA since its so close to the freeway, last weekend the water was high and we headed up river to the Mayflower, but we had to keep an eye on the water leave once it dropped about a 1 ft 1/2 we split and headed back down. We do a run at least once a day to Mcintyre to get some ice cream for the kids. And if the mrs. is up for it do a run down to Hype hole now thats a nice ride...
