I think that it is well worth noting, that this is the most drama SCJB has had since Rod and the great dildo caper of 2009.   I spend way too much time on several recreational websites, and this one by far has the best people.  Every time someone needs help of advice, or just wants to vent, the outpouring of knowledge and friendly advice is truly amazing.

Thank God we were able to ditch that Omar guy too   >:D

Not a real desirable bike to race, but it would make a great start for a quality stock restoration.   They didn't call them The Widowmaker for nothing.  A 125 like power and in a open class motor with short wheelbase is not really user friendly as they say.  That is clearly not a stock pipe, but maybe that is a good thing if it helps mellow the power hit.
If you are on Facebook,  try Mark's Vintage Swampmeet or Vintage Offroad Motorcycle Marketplace.  I saw one a while back go forabout $2000 but it was near perfect.  Good luck with the sale.

Saved by the bell by some crazy mofo's from Las Vegas that don't seem to care about driving in SoCal traffic armegeddon.   Hope y'all enjoy the boat.   But an Oldsmobile?  Really?   I just can't seem to get away from them.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / How to Build an Olds 455

I just found my copy of Timminator's The Practical Olds

It is the most thorough explanation of 101 little machining tricks to get your Olds to run long long time.  If there is any interest I will try to scan it into my computer and clean it up a bit.  Then I can mail it to you, as I'm not sure about posting it here as there are probably copyright issues somehow.  It runs 10 pages and it has been copied several times so the pictures are a bit fuzzy and dark but the text explains everything you need to tell the machine shop anyway.  It is an awesome store of information for anyone thinking about trying to squeeze any extra ponies out of your grandfather's 250 hp Cutlass motor.  But yeah, some of us are just crazy like that.   :screwy:

Think maybe brad can get us a couple shirts made so we can all wear them at the first outing.

I'd trademark that one right there.   Long live the King.   Long live the chin mitten.

Git yer chapped ass healed up and c'mon back Omar.  Did those white framed, blue-ray H8'r Blockers of yours get broke or what?

Happy and healthy New Years wishes to all of you.  It has been far too long since I have seen any of you, but I hope to change that this summer.  We just polished off an 8 lb. prime rib, cajun corn salad, several microbrews and just now some scratch made brownies.  The wife works tomorrow at 5 a.m. so I will be sitting in the hot tub here at home with a grip of Jack & Diet Pepsi and a few adult indulgences from about 11:00-1:00 with some friends like most years, listening to the world go crazy yet again.

Feel free to post your party pics here.  My phone's camera got broke so I got nothin' but I love seeing people have a good time.

Now let's get this party started !!!

If you and your wife are still on reasonably good terms, go to court affiliated arbitration.  You guys do all the legal property division and the court rubber stamps it AND no attorneys allowed in to muck things up and turn you one against the other.
From my completely biased perspective Glenn, she will come to regret driving you away, as you are a good man and not easily replaced.

First off, I agree with everyone else here.  Name it whatever you like.  But  .  .  .
Spear chucker isn't very nautical and secondly, you will HATE owning a black boat.  It will never look clean outside your garage, it will amplify water spots showing, and it will be too hot to touch all the time at the river.  Ask an owner of a black boat before you make the leap.

On the home page you will find a link for all the many reasons why the FORD is superior to the GM from an engineering standpoint.  I think if you compare the prices on parts you will often find the Ford is cheaper to fix than the BBC too.  Bowtie guys lose sleep over this stuff but it is hard to argue with Paul's facts.

Anybody  notice GM announced yet another recall today?  Un freaking believable.

Not exactly live or boat related but this past Saturday was the third round of the D37 Grand Prix season.  I failied to finish the first round in Taft, CA because some mini rider took me out 2 miles into a 25 mile race and wrecked my bike in the process.  The second round was 15 minutes away at Glen Helen but my son was in ICU for a 10 day stay so I stayed at the hospital that weekend.  Saturday the race was at 29 Palms which is my favorite track but also where I blew up a motor on that mile of asphalt they have.  Since last year I have installed a 400 in place of the 250 but lost a gear in the process.  4 speeds are not the hot ticket on long straights so I was tense a lot, but things held up well and I managed to win my class.       Next month is Primm which promises some serious desert action which I am definately looking forward to.  It has been a long time since I raced in the desert, but I'm not gonna miss those mudholes or Glen Helen's ridiculous hillclimbs and descents.   I'm still smiling   ^-^  because it took a ton of work to get things fixed on the bike and a lot of new stuff didn't fit, so I am back to racing with about 5 inches of travel.   But hey its Vintage.   The original Old S'cool !

All this Ford hate coming from guys who lovingly call their motors Mouse and Rat.  OOooooo soooo scary sounding.

GM = The company that for years, as the horsepower wars were heating up, had a corporate directive to not build any engine over 400 cu in.

The same company that threw all their investors under the bus, blatantly broke several federal laws, and paid off union members past and present with American tax dollars, instead of paying off the stock owners who have kept this company afloat with their own investment dollars.

GM = the same company that I had to take to court, just to get my car fixed,  about 17 different times.    I have owned 1 Mustang and 1 Cougar.  They both served me well.

You mentioned you were on the water for 3 hours, but how much of that was actually running the engine?  As Brad noted condensation isn't anything to worry about but you should keep an eye on your oil level and amount of moisture you see.

I rarely have any visible condensation on my dip stick or my valve covers, and I believe it is due to my wife running my boat hard enough and long enough to get it up to temperature so that most of the moisture is evaporated.

Fixed it for you Keith.

Forgot to mention that's own Ralph Brunt won both of his heat races handily.

The boat looked strong and Ralph showed serious skills recovering from a big case of "sideways-itis" on the far end.

The No Wake Zone / Reason number 79 why I love my Dodge Ram
« on: June 08, 2013, 08:16:04 PM »
In 120,000 miles the only work I have ever had the dealer do was an axle seal (under warranty) and the front/rear diff fluids at 18K miles and transmission service at 70K.  Other than brakes and tires the truck still has all the original parts that Mother Mopar built her with.   Today I took it in to have the trans fluid changed before it makes a trip to Washington in a few weeks.  The Service Manager reminds me that the pinion seals front and back are still leaking like they pointed out 50K miles when they had it last.
It is so minor I never worried much about them, but now because Dodge is running a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty again.  My truck was purchased 4 years and 11 months ago he points out.  Then he tells me that because I am the original owner, and there is some evidence that I have been doing regular maintenance on the rig, that I qualify for this warranty.  So they are fixing both pinion seals for FREE.  And doing a tire repair and rotation for FREE.   This really just might be the last truck I ever buy.  But then just how would you improve on a red Mega 4x4 Hemi?    As Hammer would say "You can't touch this."  8)

Now who is gonna break the news to Nordie since he doesn't come around here no mo?
