Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 455 olds oil puking bad

Thanks for the info..... I'm gonna try and run two breathers and see what happens....a little oil I can handle but if it's still bad I'm gonna invest in a puke tank

In my experience, it will still puke oil with two breathers. Do you have tall or short valve covers? Baffled tall will help. Run it at least a quart of oil less than capacity. The crank windage really does whip the oil and makes it worse. I ditched the PCV and ran a dual line catch can with tall baffled valve covers. That definitely helped. You should also consider installing pipe cleaners inside of the pushrods to slow the oil pumping up to the top. Be mindful of your high rpm bursts.

That is a lot of work brother. Looks better than new. Slow and steady wins the race on a build like this. Great job!

Interior / Re: Time for new interior

I think itís too much blue haha but yes I was thinking the same on the interior if I donít keep all of the colors in it. And either way I do it the white will be the color it is now which is a cream pearl white like this.....

My boat is all blue and silver. Everyone told me that it will be too much of the color blue when I put in blue carpet and blue seats. I get so many people telling that they canít believe all that blue works and pops so well.

I think the blue carpet looks right. Personally, for the interior, I would go all white or cream white with either orange or blue piping.

Welcome to the madness. Personally, I would re-gasket the intake, heads, timing cover and water pump plate. Sometimes water gets into the oil @ the water pump plate/timing cover from stagnant water sitting in the block and rusting through. Cool boat

Yeah, I had the same problem. I opened up the oil returns in the heads, switched to tall and baffled valve covers, and added the catch can. That fixed the oil spraying out of the breathers. It was so friggin frustrating. If I had to do it all over again, I would tap the heads and run drain hoses directly to the pan.

21
Looks like you scored. I noticed a breather/puke tank in the back of the motor. How do you have that set up?

I paid a fortune for the boat. The lady wouldnít take a penny under $8500 Had to rebuild or replace everything. It was the exact gel coat/boat I had searched for my whole life. So it was worth it.

That oil catch can is mounted on the ski tow. I have a closed push-in breather on the valvecover. From the breather I ran a 5/8 hose to the catch can. So far, the catch can collected most of the condensation on top.

That flake and gel looks AWESOME!  Sounds good.
By the way, Did you happen to find any Chevy keys at the ramp right where you launched? I lost some about 20 years ago.

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
Thanks Dave! I was looking for a of keys set I lost too. Lol. That flake gel is original and damn near flawless. Iím the second owner. The boat was custom ordered in 75. Garaged itís entire life. Parked in 93. Sat for 23 years. I bought it in 2016 and rebuilt the entire boat.

23
Nice boat.

Check the wheel bearings.

I re-did all of the bearings, seals, and buddy bearings the day before. Re-did that one wheel when I got home. Thank you for the suggestion
