MY NEXT QUESTION IS, WHAT CAM ARE MOST OF YOU GUYS RUNNING IN YOUR JETBOATS?
HYDRAULIC ROLLER OR SOLID ROLLER CAM? IM THINKING OF HYD. ROLLER, JUST BECAUSE OF THE FACT ITS SET IT AND FORGET IT, I DONT WANT TO BE ADJUSTING VALVES EVERY TRIP

LAST ENGINE WAS BORED .031 OVER WITH 781 HEADS 9.5:1 COMP XM HYD. FLAT TAPPET CAM AND 750DP CARB
BOAT TURNED 5400RPM AND GPS READ 59MPG, I THEN REPLACED WITH NEW ALUM "A" IMPELLER AND SS WEAR RING AND RAN IT AGAIN
WHICH RPM DROPPED TO 5K MAX AND GPS READ 65MPH.

im planning on building another bbc motor, but am looking for some useful information for this build.
Boat: 76 eliminator 18ft with Berkeley jg pump
engine block: 454
I want my boat to be able to do 70+mph
the info im looking for is:
* do I bore and stroke the motor or leave it std with higher comp pistons
* where does the hp/tq peak need to be in rpm for optimal performance?
im just looking for some helpful info to get me in the right direction. in my head I have planned to go 496 w/ 10.1 comp hyd roller cam brodix heads and 950cfm dp carb.
thanks for any helpful insight

The hull is a 76 eliminator bubble deck! What are your guys thoughts? I donít want to spend a shit load of money. I was thinking of dropping in blueprints 632ci n/a from summit, itís claimed 815hp. Or do I add a blower to the current 454 motor thats in the boat and call it a day? What are your guys thoughts?

« on: December 21, 2017, 06:52:40 PM »
While i have the pump apart and filing the dings on the impeller, is there a right way or wrong to file the vains on the bowl? And how do you know if the bowl is no good any more? Is there a chart somewhere that explains any of this? Any help would be great, thanks

Thats your rope seals, you want slow drops of water coming in from there, if its leaking with a steady flow of water, then tighten up the nut on either side just enough for water to drip evey few seconds, im sure someone on the board will explain it better

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Forward / reverse lever help
« on: August 22, 2017, 10:49:57 AM »
I have noticed that the forward/reverse lever while in the forward position moves into neutral as i hit the throttle pedal, so i have been using my leg to hold it forward lol, my question is, is it a worn out cable that's causing this,  or bad/ loose bushings? 76 eliminator bubble deck, with droop snoot and old style place diverter. Any thoughts or suggestions thanks

My friends boat has a 502 blown bbc, the engine sounds good and idles fine, but i noticed that looking at the inside of his bassett headers, the driverside was pure black soot, and the passengerside was clean a whistle, what do you guys think might be the problem? Im thinking its a valve issue, but i could be wrong.
