Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 87 octane
« on: May 31, 2020, 03:24:46 PM »
I wouldnít run 87 in a jet boat at all, to much constant load, anything over 10.5 I would run AV, I run 91/av mix in a 10.5 motor in a v-drive. Just my opinion

Is there a number or website to find out the test and tune days? All I need to do is put the slicks on and itís ready to run

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: What size blower?
« on: April 30, 2020, 09:13:54 PM »
I would run  10-71 or higher, you have to spin the shit out of a 6 to make the boost you need with that cubic inch. Spinning the blower that fast generates a lot of heat, the bigger the blower the slower you have to spin it, with less heat built up in the blower. Iím sure there is more guys on here that will give you better advice then me, just my 2c

I take my 17 1/2 foot flatty out of site six all the time, Water is actually smoother on that side of the island compared to the main body of the lake, out of Windsor. Make sure you have 4wd out of site six because the ramp sucks ass. I was out there today, and will be out there tomorrow afternoon around 2:30 if you need any help

Iím not a big fan of electric pumps especially on play boats, but it is a hood idea to mount it as low as you can get it. (obviously not on the floor of the boat) Electric pumps are pushers not pullers and last longer when there mounted below the fuel level. I usually mount them on the inside of the stringer behind the engine. I donít have any pics because like I said I usually use mechanical pumps

Depends on the boat your comparing it too. My flatty is a heavy circle boat with a 598 runs about 100mph on pump gas. That same engine in a Rogers or a Liberty would probably run about the same, that engine in a runner bottom or even a hydro v-drive would probably be around 120mph. Tom Peterson Rogers runs 112 I think with a 525 and 13.1 compression, or somewhere around there. Im a v-drive guy too but some of those jet boats haul ass these days.
