Itís idling at about 800-1000. I was running it in the hose which could be part of the issue. But I have a Y at the jet intake so water goes to the motor and the jet.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Header water injection question
« on: July 18, 2018, 09:37:04 PM »
I hooked up my water lines. My T-valve has a new ball and spring but for some reason my passenger side header is getting way more water then the drivers side. It looked like it was coming out of the weep holes. I had about a 1/4Ē of water next to the stringer and it had only been idling for a couple mins. The other side was almost dry.

It might be pushing out if the dipstick. Whereís the dipstick on the Olds?

Dipstick is on the driver side.

Is it coming out of the drain plug hose?  Oil pan bolts tight?

Didnít hit 90 because the bitchen billet carb on it doesnít work on boats apparently, but everything went great, boat handles good no leaks and no issues, we had it out Saturday in Parker and then Sunday in Havasu. Ordered a 1250 dominator and should be back on the water next week, definitely not going out this weekend

What was wrong with the billet carb?  I have one on my boat and works like a champ.

If your heads are still good I have a 350 block that was making 325-350 horsepower. Had about 5 hrs on it when a valve guide came out.   Iíd sell it from intake to pan.

The No Wake Zone / 455 Olds alternator Bracket
« on: April 30, 2018, 03:56:22 PM »
been trying to figure out a way to mount my alternator on my olds.  I know from previous boats one bolts to the head but the lower has got me.  my last boat had a spot on the motor mount but the mounts on this boat doesnt have it.  nobody seems to sell the olds bracket.  any ideas or pictures of your set ups?

Thank you for the replies. I was trying to find the sweet spot with the diverter.  I must have been pretty dry to unload the pump.

I was running down the river at wide open throttle and I think my pump sucked air. I got a bad shake on flat water. Was it cavitation?  It ran fine after I let off of the throttle a little. Just want to see if I should look further into this. Other then this it ran awesome on Friday.

Anyone know where I can find an alternator bracket for a 455 olds?  Or can I just use one from a BBC?

Thank you

Ok, Iím playing catch-up reading through the recommendations and Iím starting to get a feel for how the carb works.  Correct me if Iím wrong, but it seems like your part recommendations are to get more fuel into the primaries, and the vacuum secondaries to open sooner with the softer spring.  Both make sense to me, but I wonder if Iíll get less engine efficiency and more fuel burn with that setup.  Just thinking out loud.

Iím not understanding why disconnecting the vacuum line helps the situation.  If you donít mind explaining it or explained it somewhere else Iíd appreciate learning more about it.

I believe by taking the vacuum line off you'll be essentially locking the distributer advance.  that way when you time it at idle it'll be the same at wide open throttle...  don't quote me on that but i believe thats what it is..

Is the head fixable? (killer heads BTW) should be "041" casting numbers...

I have a friend looking, I'll hit him up tonight.

Do you know if it has a forged crank?

Thanks.

GT

Not positive on if the crank is cast or forged.  i believe all it would need is a new guide installed on the exhaust valve.
Block casting #: 3970010
Head casting # : 3947041
