« on: February 13, 2020, 04:36:39 PM »
Thanks guys , got the pump pulled today sending it to George at ARS, he built it before , hoping  the housing is not messed up this would be my 3rd in 4yrs last housing cracked because of a broken piece of metal from a bad assembly line loader scoop , so we'll see ,appreciate  the help , George has always been good to me ,parts fail I understand  plus I'm hard on my equipment  I'm always checking everything  but shit happens if  the new motor fires up and works out I should be ready to rock and roll for the June race

Jet Pumps / Re: Jg pump problems

Thanks Bro appreciate the words ,yes I was real bummed out ,pulled the droop snoot found gear oil in the bottom of the bowl in the vanes weird, seal? I always left the pump stuff to the pros ,George has always been good with everything,  just getting frustrated  2 motors and a pump in one year my friend pork chop got a Kurtis 500 v drive wondering if it's time for a change?
Oil in the bowl is not a big problem, seal leaked or possible that it came out due to shaft travel . If want the pump done to race spec then contact place Diverter and controls and talk to Tim place . He once had the fastest jet boat in the world and knows how to build pumps . He has a bad ass pump ready to go . I posted here in SoCal Jetboat . Call him and maybe he will give u a deal for it .

The thing is with this question is that it would cost u over 50k to build an squirt boat now . Whatís the point when there is a bunch of cheap boats out there turn key for under 10k . There is a guy in northern Cali that has the mold for my boat and just finished the hull , wants 16k for bare hull . Now add in all the rigging and motor and now ur easy into 30k and thatís if u do all the work . But I know that eliminator has all the old molds sitting somewhere and I know they would build u a boat if u wanted but as I said itís gona cost you .

Sorry to hear that bro , George might be right on the bearing but 1/2 run out on the shaft ???? That allow the impeller to hit the suction housing???? Also that would push the shaft into the driveline and possibly push the crank ??? , better  check the driveline . Best of luck brother

What he said lol , best to pull the pump out and take it down to Tim and Scott as this will save u $$$ on labor . Most of the labor goes into cleaning all the silicone off and prep to install. Call Tim , Scott place and they will hook u up

@bobjthomson

Anyway you can get some good/detailed pictures of how the fuel tank brackets are shaped? If they're similar tanks to mine the tanks and the brackets were made by Lightening. I talked to Jan a couple years ago he said he only built them for a couple years. So once my brackets needed to be replaced (I through my old one's a way); I didn't know at the time that there wasn't a real good replacement part so I just used IMCO's not knowing that they were different.

I think that is Yard Dogs old boat. He said to come take a look at it but I was never able to come see it before he sold it. Is the new owner on the boards?
Wish u sent this before Saturday lol boat left that day . I think the new owner is on fb SoCal jet boat ,his name is bill , nice guy . Said he bought the boat in havasu I think . As for the brackets for the tanks I canít remember how they were installed ???? But it would be hard to see as there is carpet in the way . Reach out to bill on fb , will get his last name when I get back to place Diverter today .

WarZone / Re: Setting in and out water valves
« on: January 27, 2020, 07:46:40 AM »
This is easy , the valve that is coming off the pump is to control water temp in ur block . Run the valve closed and then turn it back to about half , the one on the other side will help with the temp as well as u want to keep the water in long enough to have heat transfer. Now if the other valve is for the headders then u donít open them till the motor is running and switch the valve closed when u about to shut down .

Had the pleasure of working on this bitchin boat . Boat is at place divert and controls for a laundry list of thing that the owner wanted done and fixed .
Fuel tank switching unit by Imco , trouble shoot the up down switch for the Diverter bildge pump float , drill and tap a drain hole in the transom lol yes it didnít have a drain lol that must be fun taking the boat into good ol California lol  . Tim made a bitchin bracket for the forward rev handle that mounts up inside the gunnel and bolts everything up nicely . I love working on these type of boats as I treat it like itís my own . Big shout out to Tim and Scot place and Place Diverter and Controls for letting me work on these bad ass boats .

I am still in possession of the boat. I have been in regular contact with Tom who won the boat. He's not in a rush to get it due to it being winter.

I worked on it a few weekends ago. Finished up all the wiring under the dash, fixed an issue with the hydraulic pump wiring, ran all the fuel lines, and re-installed the headers with gaskets.

I just need to finish running the water lines and put some oil in it, then take it out and give it a shake down so all is good when I hand the keys over to Tom, which should be within the next few weeks once I find some time.

Thank for your info very much appreciated,  I will get pictures tonight when I get to the shop, I have 2 fins I pulled off a flatbottom  v drive  one is bronze the other aluminum  probably  not something  I should use  as far as the pump it was set up by George at ARS it has a stainless impeller and an inducer, blueprinted bowl , the clean out has been welded longer to take out cavitation  and has a loader scoop for the intake , I do have a droop snoot and a new nozzle with the red insert and a ride plate I made about 24inches long ,I do not have a shoe the sanger came from the factory  with a small plate so I made a longer one , I was doing some bouy to bouy practice at my river I run at the boat seems to slide a lot in the turn when I give it full own it digs and turns but sometimes  hops and I spin out with tons of water in the boat will the fin help with the hop or dig more and flip , also what about an oil cooler drag racing I didn't need one thank you Bob really want to be competitive  but most of all Safe
I would try putting a rudder on the pump and see if that helps with the turning ??? Easy and cheap lol . The turning fin will help keep the boat stable on the turn as this is what itís for , when the nose of the boat drops the fin will keep it from wondering all circle boats have these . Do u have an inducer ??? As I said before this will help keep the pump loaded at all rev ranges ??? As for the oil cooler itís a must , extra oil . And u can control the temps better . Also do u have a pressure valve to keep ur water pressure steady???

I have a turning fin that came off a Rogers . U donít need cave plates on a jet boat as the Diverter will set the boat up , ride plate is a must . Ur gona want to get ur pump set up with the tightest clearance possible and run an inducer as well as this will help keep the pump loaded at all times . Send some pics of the rear of the boat so I can see the chimes on it .

Ok thank you ,do you race comp jet ?  Not sure about a lot of things about circle racing , I drag race my boat but the oil doesn't get hot enough  for a oil  cooler ,  I do run my boat pretty hard I have an oil temp doesn't seem to get to hot though, any more  2 cents would be great thanks
I run a v-Drive and my boat is an ol GN race boat . I built the motor to run max rpm all day long lol my temp with the oil cooler runs about 120-130 and am happy with that . If ur gona run circle then u will most definitely need it , also run a double oil filter application as it will help big time on cooling as well . Put it this way I run Parker dam to dam wot and never lift lol 17 miles of pure joy lol . Some pics of my boat then and now lol

My .2 cents brother is to buy a new one . I bought a used one and had to replace the caps as they were corroded and were leaking and had to get the tube bundle ultrasonic cleaned as there was build up in the tubes . After all that I could of bought a new one for another couple of hundred more .

Ok , thanks for the info , as I was looking more into the boat was really blown away that some joker put duct tape  on the inside of the cracked  fiberglass , so I m going to tear apart everything and cap the boat and do some more repair and get it done right , guess I'm running  my sanger another summer , I'll have more pics of the rebuild soon
