Ran great for two laps steady 3500 rpm @ 38-43mph then halfway thru the third lap around perris front corner of valve cover gasket blew out!! Thought it was the shitty valve covers because i had a problem with them before but turns out the felpro gasket actually cracked diagonally between the two lower bolts, im ultra dissapointed. Just going to get new valve covers and better gaskets, idk about everyone else but ive never had good luck with chrome valve covers.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is detailing that can be done to make the pump more efficient. It may not effect your cruiser like a hot rod, so paying someone to do it might not be worth it. But that is something maybe to discuss with Place Diverter.
Another thing to think about is an inducer. It is an smaller impeller that goes on the shaft in front of the impeller that helps to keep it loaded. It is supposed to help with acceleration. The shaft would have to be machined to add it. These things aren’t necessary. But if you end up rebuilding, now would be the time to consider them.
Sorry to make it more confusing. But, just some things to think about.

I should just do it myself huh? I mean the satisfaction factor alone is worth it hahaha guess i just got to absorb as much as possible come up with a gameplan of what will best suit the boat and go for it. Just kicking myself in the ass for not doing it when the motor was out this winter.

Yupp ive binged watched all of them, never done a jet pump before but then again 10 years back id never done an outdrive either. The thing im at odds with is the cost of rebuild kit versus having it built by pd, versus picking up this refurbished unit... Decisions decisions hahaha

I just know the sound it makes when sucks down gasoline 750 dp tuned and ready, see ya at the lake tomorrow. The next adventure is going to be the pump, either having mine built by place diverter or just buying this one and install myself which i would do anyway with pd too.this old timer in sun city sell alot of jet boat shit anybody ever deal with him? Seems legit and maybe hell buy mine in exhange.

I'm assuming logs and snails.
From the pump, to the lowest side of the logs, from the higher side of the logs to the water pump block off plate, out the thermostat housing to the snails and overboard thru the exhaust.

I prefer a gate valve on the pump to slow down the water on the way in, and to regulate engine temperature.
Mine runs at 140°f at cruise, 155°-ish in the no wake zone.

Plumbing with headers is different.

You do have a water pump.
Is says Berkeley on it.

Thats how mine is, but does its make a difference by downsizing the hoses diameter as it goes from pump, 3/4 to the tee then 5/8 off tee to logs as well as to water pump housing,then 1/2 inch from tstat housing to snails? I was worried the 1/2 inch was too small so i changed them to 5/8 as well, now im wondering about the 3/4 being to big

That's a Place Diverter, it steers first and roosts second.
A Jet-O-Vater, Berkeley trademark, roosts first and steers second.
You have the better product.

It looks like there is a quarter of an inch more up travel, maybe more.
The handle has some adjustment as well as the cable mount on the Diverter.
The rudder only really works in the no wake zone, anything faster, and it scrubs speed. 5 squirt bötēs, not one rudder.

Ahhh i see.thanks for the heads up, Good to hear. It has a little bit more to give at the heim joint but i didnt think the top lip of the nozzle should hit when all the way up. maybe im just not seeing it second hand because my friend says it throws good, from the boat it seem like it doesnt shoot upward tho.ill post some vidoes of it this weekend. Ok Ill try it without but the boats pretty fast already for what it is hahaha thanks again

I have the manual jetovator on the single bowl 12jc with aluminum a impeller, everything is sound and operating as it should( no vibrations, slipping, noises) has plenty of power and delivery from take off to pegged out but the place diverter doesnt seem to be throwing a rooster upwards at all.when its all the way up it throws the water more back and outward rather than up as ive seen others do with the same setup(different boat of course) ive adjusted the heim joint and lever so the nozzle is up as far as it will go,i had someone else drive while i observed it underway and the only thing i could think of is the pump looks to be under the water line more than ive seen others of similar design. Not sure if thats got something to do with it but im trying to get this setup to work as best so if anyone ones got some tips or tricks id really appreciate it.

update to be fair i got in contact with the superintendent of operations at lake perris, explained the situation and sent him pictures of the boat. He apologized and has sent me a free entry but i just hope that "inspector" gets some retraining. The engine bay gully is a high gloss black and its pretty cramped down there to say the least, the guy already sounded annoyed that he even had to do an inspection didnt even lean over into the boat to look close or finger the drain plug hole. Im Glad the super resolved it though very professional and easy going dude.

Hahah yea i guess minimal fuel, only two riders and the smooth glass helped alot but most of the credit goes to my boys at Waynes for turning the 460 into a real beast, she was nothing but a dog last season.

The water may be greener but Perris decided to be extra critical today so i took my buisness to elsinore as usual, perris has become too much of a hassle in typical california fashion.

Got the big yellow bird gps'd today and its wayy better than i expected-

 67 mph @4800 rpm

I cant wait to do a few more tweaks and take her for all shell give!

There were screw holes, thin keel "beach rash", busted bow eye and some gouges that need to be fixed.
Coming together nice,Cant wait to do this to mine next winter.

Hey all,
 local perris boy here ready to tear up lake perris and elsinore all summer, only when im avoiding the river during those jam packed holiday weekends of course!! Anyways finally registered on here now that my boat is getting a little more presentable hahaha here it is...

Edelbrock perf. w/ 650 dp up top, yes i know that is a terribly weak setup up but working on a budget and having the engine freshly built i used what i knew works( air gap single plane and 850 dp will be on by end of march).
 After breaking her in and all this shit weather i finally got a chance to take it to elsinore yesterday and do some gps..
58 mph @ 4300 rpm water was a lil choppy but not terrible and she still had more too give!! Im just playing it safe right now with only 8 hours on it still. Ill post more of the build pics soon.
