I pull mine with this...It only has the 4.6 and it does fine! I don't need all that fancy shnizzit to pull mine,I just cruise to get there and cruise to get back...Life's to short to always "rush" and chance it. I luv my "Lil' Truck"But how do you feel about the MPG are you better or worse than the diesels? I'm assuming you get a little less since you're working more but correct me if i'm wrong...![]()
That's funny, someone I was talking to recently knows you, maybe it's someone from here, I don't remember. Things are good, how's that Banshee? It's still running but the GF crashed it the last ride and one of the arms bent still rides but just a little off, good thing we have other toys though... but lately we've been in the water unfortunately not on our boat though since we haven't rebuilt our jet yet which is what the shop told me the boat needed, so there's plenty of time to fix it before the season starts again.
There's some good pics on PB http://www.performanceboats.com/html/forums/showthread.php?t=44790Those are some good pics! Yeah its time for me to upgrade my lens my zoom doesn't get as close as those pictures
I got one word for you CUMMINS!!! That is the best engine out there. They last forever, get great fuel mileage (a friend hauls 18k pound horse trailer back & forth across U.S. with 18mpg average). I'm a die hard chevy guy, I love Camaros, Novas, & Vettes (I know, I know, I got a Ford in my boat). But when it comes to trucks, you can't beat the Cummins diesel. It took Dodge a long time to build a reliable truck to wrap around it but they did in my opinion. I drive an 05 Ram Hemi because it outpowered Ford and Chevy (and the new Hemis have even more power). I couldn't afford a diesel then but I could buy any truck right now, it would be a Ram 2500 with the Cummins. I worked for Dodge, Chevy, and Ford 2 years each so I've seen which trucks come through the service drive the most. The Cummins pretty much only came in for oil changes. Thanks for the reply
Diesel equals durability. Plain and simple. Last much much longer and the high price to get into one will be offset by the benefit of the power and longevity of it. Just my opinion which is completely bias because I drive a huge F250 Power Stroke. Fuel mileage sucks. I get about 10 MPG no matter if I'm pulling my 4K lb boat, a 25K house, or just turning those big ass tires. Chicks dig it.Thanks for the reply... Nice truck... is that the 6.0 or 7.3? I've been told that the 6.0s have issues and if i were to get into a ford to make sure its a 7.3. Do you know if that statement is correct?
I never understood why people think they need a 3/4ton diesel rig to tow a little jet boat. W/ the trailer, you're boat probably weighs what...4000lbs? Maybe? My main reason I want a diesel is for the MPG, then i want to also make sure i have the power for any needs, and also be able to seat comfortably , plus during the cold months i go out to the desert to ride the other toys and would like to tow anything with no hesitation at all. I'm pretty sure the power is way more than what i need but i don't think more power isn't necessarily a bad thing...
you done screwed up on that deallol well if you see any good deals on a 2500HD diesel for around $13k let me know
any luck with your boat?not yet BUT i just sold my truck so I will have $ for the boat.... but how do i tow the boat with no truck now??? hmmm???
djthicks, i have seen that boat before. this dude that used to sell me crack pulled up with that thing on a trailer a couple of times. should have gotten a weed wacker.
Cough as in a pop through the carb? Thanks for replying,
Could be thrash in the carb and time for a rebuild on it or or or your cam is going flat? Not the best mechanic here so maybe some with more expertise can pick up here.![]()
Another thing I noticed was the registration sticker 05The stickers on the boat are 05 but they actually came with 09's I just didn't put them on yet, the previous owner said he took the boat out last season and it ran fine, so according to him I would say the boat sat 1 season. We actually did a oil change on the boat before we took it out and the old oil was milky but since it was changed oil looked fine. As far as fuel it was kind of empty when we got it and we ran about 2 full tanks through it already (about 20gallons tank). I'm new to boats but the RPMS do not sound EXTREMELY high sounded kind of normal. First time we took it out to Elsinore and it seemed okay with 30mph max and coughed at wide open throttle(also with 2 people) from 30seconds to 1minute intervals , then the second time at the river it ran maybe 17-25mph(with 4 people) and coughing at maybe 80% to 100% open throttle with 2 second intervals between coughs.Has it been sitting that long
How was the fuel in the tanks, and did ya use old fuel
Just an observation
