Did you provide the 750, or did he have cores on hand. I need to go through my carb, but starting from scratch may not be a bad idea. Mines pretty corroded all over.

If you're lucky, road runner and foxes have inside spots where you don't get slammed into the dock or shoved under. Road runner has a beach area too.

Pirates has docks in their lagoon behind the restaurant and off the main river as well.

Other than that, not many dock places. Sandbar across from Sundance, sandbar in the cove across from Blue Water, and cove past Buckskin with a beach. Other option is try to get an anchor to bite and just anchor bow out where ever you want.

Any issue with day use boat trailer parking at Riviera? Suggestions for "overflow" if needed?

Dennis, although I do remember this out at the Cove.

A bunch of us helped get him off of there. Two guys tumbled out when they hit.  Had another boat hit and skip over the sandbar to the right while we were helping; crazy.

« on: May 24, 2016, 09:00:33 AM »
I use brass because it's really available, strong,  corrosion resistant and cheap.

If you have access to stainless fittings  (most of us do not), think about how much better that would be than a piece of ABS.

Most stainless I have used has been unreasonably heavy, not to mention expensive.

GT

Speaking of heavy, how do you secure the 3/4 mpt fitting, 3/4" ball valve, 3/4" mpt, 3/4" hose bibb adapter, garden hose female, hose barb combo? Just clamp it to the stringer?

Mine's setup so the the engine flush part is removable when I'm not using it. However, everything else just rests on the floor of the bilge and I'm not a fan of that.

It was on for about 10 mins idling out the dock drove it easy for bout 3 mins then just complete bogging... I had to sputter it to the ramp cause no one seems to notice I'm going the wrong way sputtering and wants to help.. but anyways I had to literally tap the gas before it cut just to get back... I turn it off to get my phone to video the symptoms and it starts just fine like nothings wrong. I'm stumped, now I think it's a fuel issue?

Does it have a water separator? I had a boat with similar symptoms and it had a ton of water in the gas. Dump the separator into a clear Mason jar or something similar and see if you have any water in there.

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Re: Wanted to Buy - Spectra Gas Cap
« on: May 10, 2016, 09:09:25 AM »
It's on my watch list as well as a couple others. There's a chris craft and perko one that look similar.

I have a rubber 2" cap clamped on right now and it fit tight, so I'm assuming 2" NPT until I can get home and measure for sure. The one in the link is 1.5"  :-\

Measured mine the outside of the male threads is 2.479" and inside is approx. 2.2". ID of the neck is 2"

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Wanted to Buy - Spectra Gas Cap
« on: May 09, 2016, 08:07:28 AM »
'78 Spectra with a belly tank. Somewhere on the way to Laughlin, my screw on gas cap decided to part ways with the boat and left just the chain hanging.

Anyone have one lying around that they'd like to sell or know a source?

Probably 2" inner diameter and 3" outer diameter screw on cap: smooth top, ridges on the sides, heavy as hell.

Can't find a source anywhere and I'd like to keep it original.

I'm trying to find a better picture, but guess the cap hasn't been the focus of any images  :screwy:

Just a heads up that the lake is closed the 2nd and 3rd for the ski race / enduro. Then the 8th is the official boating season opening day and lake use will be free; launch fees will still be charged.

I had the blue spectra next to you at the Parker meet last year. You did an awesome job with that boat and someone's going to get a real nice boat!

And for the last question of the day, what damage did I do by using a moly fortified grease on the thrust bearing?  :banghead:

How much slip is available in the yoke? Could be joint bind.

I know it's a dumb question, but how do I check the slip? Unbolt the PTO and see how much it slides?

I dry fired the boat and there were no unusual sounds. I put my ear to a screwdriver and placed it on the pump housing, bell housing, thrust bearing housing, etc. and didn't hear the pinking / clinking / whining sound anywhere.

Anyhow, here are the shots from the grease zerk side of the u joints. In all honesty, I can't remember adding grease to these and probably meant to, but didn't.

Is it a three point mount Craig?

Hey Dan, yes it's a 3 point. Here are some pictures. Looks like there's a bunch of grease on the inside of the bell housing; do u joint fling grease when they're going bad?

Kind of hard to get the flash of the phone in there or flashlight and camera.
