Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Thru Transom Exhaust fitment

I paid a shop about 400 dollars to have 2 "S" pipes made out of stainless.  My snails were way off alignment to the exhaust tips.

Jet Pumps / Re: how to remove bowl on my 12WJ jacuzzi pump
« on: June 05, 2018, 07:42:55 AM »
Removing that rear single bolt will do nothing to separate bowl. Those 8 bolts on the inside gotta be removed to separate the bowl. There might be silicone holding it together.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Harmonic balancer
« on: June 01, 2018, 07:34:41 PM »
If it had a weight, new one must also have a weight. If it had no weight, new one must not have a weight. The holes will be there regardless.  The holes are where the weight is mounted. I just went through this.

I figured out that I had an internally balanced set up. Installed correct balancer and flexplate and vibration is gone

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 496 balancer question
« on: April 29, 2018, 09:23:06 PM »
Would I be ok running a stock 454 balancer for a full roller 496? I fired up my engine and it had a bad vibration. I removed the balancer and noticed it had no weight in it. Which balancer is good to run? Do I NEED SFI in a cruiser?

Offers? Anything? You can use these while yours are being polished or powder coated. Or maybe if on a major budget.

Seems like all the "real guys" are here anyways. FB just sucks in general.  I never noticed this forum went downhill. It's always been cool to me. Lots of standup dudes. GT, Mash on It, River Dad, Flusher, Beerjet, Shocker,.... Just to name a few. Many others are helpful too.

Initially I did have 2 down, then 2 up, but info coming from you seems to be biblical around here so I went with your recommendation. 1 degree down from shaft then 1 up. Thanks for everyone's responses. I made a few mistakes but I was able to recover. In the end, it looks good, not professional, but good.

And two degrees is a shitload... How long is the driveline? how much "pan room" do you have left?

GT
I have enough pan room. Not sure exactly but enough

The driveline is a standard 2 u joint split yoke kinda deal. What kind of angle works better? From the searching I have done, 2 degrees at each u joint seems good. 2 up and 2 down to get the crankshaft line parallel to jet input shaft. The blocks have 4 degrees machined into them from Tom at JBP. That would now put my rails level and the engine sitting 4 degrees up.... what am I missing???
