Boats For Sale / 1976 Tarva/MRED
« on: September 22, 2015, 06:30:28 PM »
NO LONGER FOR SALE. Going to hang on to it and save up to get a second one.

1976 Tarva MRED 19.5'. Titled as an MRED. 460 BBF. All stock. Berkeley JC Pump. Boat is 100% original aside from the carpet and seat bottoms. Everything on the boat works. Dual Battery. I've owned the boat for about 4 months and has been dead reliable. I have taken it to Elsinore 4 consecutive times, Lake Martinez and went to Laughlin and drove it to Needles and back with no issues. I have a Petronix Billet marine Distributor that is new in the box. Boat has a bimini top and a boat cover. boat cover has a 6x6 in tear in left rear corner. Nothing major. Going to more of a low profile jet boat. Tandem Axle trailer. Boat has rash on the bottom. Gel Coat is great for a 40 year old boat. Has a multi lever throttle and forward reverse. Radio (generic but has a Aux jack with sub and 2 6x9"s) No amp. Motor has great oil psi. 60+ on start up and stays at 35+ when cruising after a while. Was told the pump was rebuilt 3 years ago. I can leave the boat in the water for all day with out needing to use a bilge pump. Tires are like new. No trailer brakes. I have 2 27"x 15" teak swim steps that go with the boat. Interior is a 7/10. Looks good cleaned up but has some cracks if you look for the. John 951-691-2684 $4500

Hulls / Removing Bow Rail
« on: July 26, 2012, 12:24:25 PM »
I was contemplating removing the bow rail on my boat. Hopefully give it more of a sleeker look. I've notice places only offer Bow rail washers. Does anyone offer anything to put in place of where it mounted. Like a flat round CNC'd piece of metal that I can get the same color as the boat?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 3 or 1 wire alternator
« on: July 19, 2012, 06:29:27 AM »
The lake I live on has a long stretch of no wake zone. That's where I spend 80% of my time when I take my boat out on it. After installing  my system I've noticed that being at idle doesn't help charge much. I'm pretty sure it is a low amp alternator. i am going to order a 105amp. Which one is better for charging at idle?

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Teak swim step
« on: July 17, 2012, 07:27:13 PM »
The guys who owned the boar before me treated the teak swim step with varnish. Its slick and has drops in the drain slots. I was going to strip it and the sand it with 120 then use a teak oil. My other thought was to have it ran through a planer on both sides and router the slots. Is that s bad idea?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Oil removal
« on: July 17, 2012, 12:41:28 PM »
So I've always used a mechanical pump through the dip stick tube to change the oil. For some reason i can't get anything on this 350. I'm thinking about getting an electric one but wanna run it by the SoCaljetboat team of experts first for any advice.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Worth swapping to a BB
« on: July 11, 2012, 09:17:39 AM »
I have a 350 in my boat now. Not sure how old it is but I am assuming it hasn't ever been rebuilt. I feel like the SB needs to be rapped a lil high to be in a cruising band. We had a built BBF that would cruise at 3000-3500 no problem. This seems like it needs to be at 3800-4000. I thought about a 383 stroker or just going to a 454/460 set up. Has anybody made the switch or should the SB be fine with a freshen up and some bolt ons? It's 19' Daytona with a berk JC-A.

The No Wake Zone / Android phone users
« on: June 25, 2012, 09:04:49 AM »
So I was shown a way to get free apps on Android phones. Like Tapatalk. It works great. I will list directions on how below. I will also list an app that will allow you to turn your phone in to a WiFi hotspot for free. It's better to do this from your phones browser.

Go to

Sign up and wait for them to verify with an email. From the email link go back to

Once this is down download the app Blackmart. It should be the top one and is 259mb. You may have to change the phone settings to allow unidentified/untrusted apps.

Once you downlaod that Blackmart app you can search the Apps you want and they are free. I got Tapatalk this way.

Their is another app called FoxFi. This will allow you to turn your phone in to a WiFi hotspot without having to pay through your provider. it works great if you are on the road or a place where you need it for a laptop or tablet.

Not trying to promote anything illegal just passing on some info I was given and tried it out. It does not work on iPhones/iPads.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Amp for radio hook up
« on: June 19, 2012, 06:30:11 PM »
So I am getting ready to install a head unit, 6x's, 6.5" and an amp. I am also going to a dual battery set up with a switch. Where does the amp power get hooked up to? Sorry if this seems dumb, just don't want to have an electrical issue. hate electrical. Right now I have an HEI set up.
