Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Attempting my first cap job...
« on: September 25, 2019, 08:29:58 PM »
I'm starting at the transom since it seems to be the easiest spot to fill. I got a roll of 1" cloth and using polyester resin. I've got about 4 layers of 1" strips. Then I got some silica thickener to mix with the resin to make a paste to fill the rest.

Any constructive feedback is welcome.

This is the boat we are raffling off at horsepower fest. It's a 78 Bahner. (Build thread coming soon)

Events / 2019 Performance Regatta Pic Thread
« on: August 13, 2019, 04:30:45 PM »
This past weekend was the 13th Annual Performance Regatta at the Aha Quinn Sand Bar in Blythe, California and it was a great turn out!

The weather held up all weekend with just a light breeze. Friday was awesome, a lot of people made it out.
Mike Dewey & Jay Erschen lined up, Mike Dewey with his 1976 Gullwing powered with a Bostick Racing Engine took 2 of the 3 races.

Gary Oliver lined up with August Duke Culver of Knuckles Up Racing. Gary had sucked up a bunch of weeds and they weren't able to line back up.

Dennis Capogni and Zach Rauscher were scheduled to race and it has been postponed. Rauscher was testing up at lost lake and ended up going for a swim (https://www.instagram.com/p/B09AerVBW1L/), thankfully he is ok however the motor was in bad shape. Hopefully we will see them back out there soon.

Saturday was badass. So many beautiful boats! We met some new people and were able to catch up with familiar faces we haven't seen in a bit. It is always so great to see everyone come together for a fun time and lend a hand if needed. It is awesome to have you all in this community and make it what it is!

There was several spontaneous races and amazing passes throughout the weekend and we took A LOT of video. We will be working on a re-cap video of all the races and all the amazing boats that were there.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth and came out!  It was a fun filled weekend,
Thank you to the guys that lent a hand helping load and unload, we appreciate it!!

Lets see your photos from the weekend, post them up here in this thread!

Next up is the Long Beach Spring Boat Nationals this weekend August 17-18th and the Annual One Hot Summer Weekend Event at the Avi Resort & Casino on August 24th!

« on: June 25, 2019, 04:56:32 PM »
This year's October Event will be held in Yuma during the Yuma Power Tour at Martinez.

I dont have much information, but just wanted to post this as a place holder for the event.

Normally this is an 'off the grid' type event, so you probably wont see much promoting of this event from SCJB via social media. Even though there isnt much 'hype', it's definitely an event you don't want to miss.

Events / SoCalJetBoats 2019 Mothers Day Event Picture Thread
« on: May 14, 2019, 11:19:24 AM »
What an awesome weekend! So many amazing and beautiful boats and so many wonderful people came to the Avi in Laughlin, NV for our 9th Annual Mother's Day event. We've been doing this event for so many years and every year it just keeps getting better and better. The weather was difficult for some towing out from Southern California, but mother nature gave everyone a break and gave us a beautiful day on Saturday.

This past weekend was our 9th Annual Mothers Day Event Weekend at the Avi Resort in Laughlin, Nevada!
With over 100 boats in attendance there was a lot to look at. The weather held up great most of the day, around 3pm it looked like a storm was rolling in and the wind picked up for about five minutes... the clouds split and the sun came right back for an awesome afternoon evening.

It is so nice to see everyone come together and help one another. This event was a first for some and we have received a lot of messages about how much fun they had and how welcoming this community is, that means so much because that's what this is all about! Thank you for helping us making these events so much fun.

Check out all the photos from the weekend and be sure to add yours too!!

Do you ever wonder how far people will travel for events? This stop on the Summer Tour brought boat enthusiasts from Canada, Texas, and New Mexico!

Congratulations to the 50\50 Raffle Winner, Darlene Gonzales was the first ticket pulled and she won over $100 !!!
If you missed out on the Raffle, don't worry - there will be more! We do this at all our events, however much money is collected, the winner takes home half the pot and the other half goes towards the Horsepower Fest Raffle Boat!!!

The next stop on our 2019 Summer Tour is Father's Day Weekend in Blythe, California.
This event is a short boat ride to a sandy beach on the lower part of the Colorado River.
For all the details:  https://www.socaljetboats.com/events/socaljetboats-fathers-day-event-june-15th-2019-blythe-ca/msg345239/?topicseen#new

Check us out on Facebook and Instagram. Be sure to tag us in your photos, we love to see what you have going on and what you're working on!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to make this weekend another success for us!

Project Boats For Sale / Looking for a Project Boat
« on: May 13, 2019, 07:21:00 PM »
Looking for a project boat. Must have titles for hull and trailer. Looking for 17'-19' low profile hull and tandem axle trailer. No junk. If it needs paint and interior, that's ok. Just don't want anything with a rotten transom or stringers.

This will be the boat we build for Horsepower Fest to be raffled off for charity in November.

Real Estate For Sale / Spot R8 at McIntyre Park in Blythe, CA
« on: April 17, 2019, 03:05:05 PM »
Spot R8 at McIntyre Park in Blythe, CA is up for sale.

This is a great entry level spot for a couple looking for their first river spot.

Has a very solid 24'x60' canopy all lit up with LED cantina lights. Put a new tarp on it this weekend. Just finished building a 24'x14' deck. Space is roughly 75'x25'.

Trailer is a 21' 1991 Dutchman 220. Everything works including water heater, heater, and A/C. I've had to turn the A/C down in 120° temps because it was too cold, so it works really good. Inside is in good condition, but is dated. Has a microwave and 4 burner stove.

Space has power, water and sewer hook ups. Trailer has PVC from trailer to the sewer dump. Water/sewer is included with space rent. Tenant is responsible for power.

Comes with a fire pit, BBQ and smudge pot.

Park has a lot of amenities including a great launch ramp, lagoon, big sandy beach, public showers, convenience store, and most of the park is grass.

$8,500 with trailer
$5,500 without trailer
Space rent is $410/mo + power

Events / 2019 SCJB Season Kick Off Recap and Picture Thread
« on: April 08, 2019, 08:54:37 PM »
What a weekend!!! This past weekend we hung out on the Colorado River with 75+ boats at our Season Opener event!!

There isn't much that will stop us from enjoying the river with all our friends & family! I'm sure you heard, there was a water main break in Parker, the Bluewater Resort (where the majority of us were staying) along with local businesses had no water!! The Resort called all the guests to advise of the issue, offered a free cancellation or half off your room. They informed us that you could flush the toilet but not to shower or drink the water. Who drinks this water anyway?? We opted to go regardless... which is exactly what everyone else did. The water was back on Friday, tested clean, and all was right in the world again. Hallelujah!!

This venue is great because there is so much to do... Want to go explore?  The Parker Strip and the Dam is near by. Kids?  The Bluewater has water slides and a pool.  No Boat? No boat needed, you can park and walk down to the beach.  Most the time everyone enjoys a nice cruise to Road Runner or Fox's about 15 minutes down river for lunch or dinner. After dinner fun was had watching The Matt Ferris Band play at "The Dig" along with some dancing. We seen some dance moves!!

The weather was perfect, the water was cold, beers were flowin' and the boats came all the way from Idaho and Washington! We enjoyed seeing beautiful boats and meeting new people. We are so thankful for the continuous support you all have given to SoCal JetBoats over the last 12 years.
Huge thank you to everyone who came out to kick off the season with us!!! It was great to see everyone and catch up, its amazing to see so many people come together help each out and have fun.  This is an awesome group of people, thank you for making our events enjoyable and fun for everyone!!

Our next event is Mother's Day Weekend at the Avi in Laughlin, Nevada and we hope to see you all there!!!

The No Wake Zone / SCJB Facebook Drama
« on: June 27, 2018, 07:54:19 PM »
This is a long post, but worth the read!

Here at SoCal Jet Boats, we strive to bring an experience to this community.  Over the 12 years SoCal Jet Boats has grown from a small forum for a few guys who wanted a place to go where the common interest was Jet Boats... to now being recognized world wide, published in a few issues of SpeedBoat Magazine, designed over 15 shirts which have been shipped all over the world and have had our merchandize sold in retail stores as well as supporting multiple charities and programs!! We are very proud of our accomplishments, but couldn’t have done it without all of you.

From the beginning, I have always stressed that the name is just that - a name. It doesn’t matter where you are from or what you drive. SoCal Jet Boats is about hanging out and enjoying a commonality between people - performance boating, which includes V-Drives, Outdrives, Outboards, and Jets. Even if you do not have a boat you’re still welcomed!

With the social media always evolving, it makes it easier for all of us to keep in touch and stay up to date which family & friends near or far! When Facebook created “groups”, as company we decided to try it out, even though we had concerns and did not want to take away from the forum. Brittney and I, with the help of our moderators, do our best to keep out the riff raff. We don’t like drama or disrespect towards anyone. Some people think that the internet is a free-for-all and you can be rude, mean and obnoxious.  We are a group who like to get together, hang out at the river/lake and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

It has come to our attention that a Facebook group has been formed out of spite.  We have not addressed this situation until now as we feel we should inform you all what is going on.  These individuals who created this group & are a part of said group are slandering and harassing SoCal Jet Boats, myself directly, my family, and our members. They have even gone as far as to put out a ‘reward’ for anyone who knocks me out and gets it on video. They have incited vandalism towards public and private property as well. They have tried to blackmail me, attacking and making threats to my family, friends, and members, and attempting to spread lies they have no proof of, because they are just that - lies. We have a zero tolerance for this behavior. This is not what SoCalJetBoats is about or what we believe in.  We have removed and blocked these individuals from the group as well as anyone who has joined in on the scandal by egging them on.

That being said, if you want to be associated with a group that wishes harm on people, their families, and slander individuals & businesses - please leave. Thats is not what we are about & the entire boating community\industry is watching , no one wants to associate with this behavior.

A lot of you have reached out to Brittney and I through all of this and we are very thankful and appreciative for that! We ask that no one engages or retaliates towards these individuals. Just leave their group and unfriend them. I know the majority of the people in that group  have been added unwillingly and unknowingly. Some of you have told me you have left only to be re-added back into that group unwillingly. If you unfriend them, they can’t add you back in.  They just get kicks out of tormenting people. We are not the first for them. They have done this to other individuals and their families in the past. We do not support or condone any of their actions.

We thank everyone for their love, loyalty and support! We look forward to seeing you guys out on the river and sharing beers, having fun and making more awesome memories.
We have a lot of big things planned for upcoming events and a lot of ground to cover for Horsepower Fest!! We are extremely excited about the future and look forward to seeing  you all soon!

Projects / 1974 Tahiti - Horsepower Fest 2018 Raffle Grand Prize
« on: May 22, 2018, 08:15:15 AM »
We are super excited about this news! This year at Horsepower Fest, we decided to raffle off, among the many other awesome things, a Jet Boat!

The boat is a 1974 Tahiti and is in a total project state. It came with a Berkeley pump and a 454 Big Block Chevy. The idea with this project is to get various shops and parts manufacturers in the jet boat community to jump in and help out with this build. This will help them build their brand and also let them contribute to the end goal – raise money for the Semper Fi Fund. They are the charity we are raising money and awareness for this year with Horsepower Fest! So if you or you know someone who is interested in donating parts, time, or services towards this project, please let us know! This will be an awesome project to bring together people in the boating community for an awesome cause.

Currently we have James Bostick of Bostick Racing Engines that will be helping out with the engine build!
