Topock / Laughlin / Pirates Cove/Needles
« on: March 10, 2015, 08:12:55 AM »
Wife and I are going to try Pirates Cove in Needles this weekend, this area of the river is new to us with the boat. Are there any areas to be aware of as far as being in an 18’ shallow V jet? Also what is better or more scenic in that area, going up river or down towards Topock? We are staying with some friends with a fifth wheel trailer and the boat will be in the water all day Friday and Saturday if anyone will be in that area also and would like to meet and have a few drinks.

Hey guys, I want to do a nice job filling in the exhaust holes in my transom. I get the basic procedure by cutting two plywood dowels, coating them with resin and glass them in. I’m just looking for some more input as far as whose products I would want to use, and the recommended steps. It’s the original gel coat from 1986, would the new gel be allot whiter?,  if it is, would I have to color sand and buff out the entire transom to blend the colors and make it look decent?...any advise would be helpful…thanks

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Berkeley 12JG housing & nozzle assembly
« on: December 15, 2014, 11:06:25 AM »
This is a factory Berkeley nozzle 12JG assembly, containing the housing, nozzle itself, reverse bucket and steering arm. The nozzle and the reverse bucket are no longer available from Berkeley. The nozzle and reverse bucket are the same for the Berkeley 12JC & JG models. The JG housing is powdercoated metalic blue. The nozzle and reverse bucket has been sand blasted and painted with very durable white epoxy paint, new Teflon O-ring and bushings and held together with ARP polished 12 point stainless steel fasteners. If interested send me a P/M. I haven't had any luck uploading pictures here  :banghead:, but I can email you them.

The Parker Strip / Hot Boats On Parker Strip @ Pirates Den
« on: September 27, 2014, 01:26:44 PM »
Was curious if anyone is going out to this event next weekend 10/4-10/5, I'm planning on heading out there on that weekend, I usually stay just north at Buckskin.
The weather should be nice and there most likely will be many nice radical boats in the show and on the water. Summer is winding down and this may one of the last real warm weather weekends to soak up the heat out there, so I'm going to enjoy it.. 8)....

SoCal Lakes / Irvine Lake
« on: February 26, 2014, 12:51:38 PM »
I attended the Lucas drag boat races last spring at Irvine Lake, had a good time. I was wondering if any of you boaters that have somewhat of a hot rod boat have ever gone to Irvine Lake for an outing. If so, what was it like? and the overall experience there. Is there a strict noise ordinance of any sort?, I have a typical shallow V jet boat with  a BBC, tunnel ram two carbs open headers with water injection. It’s not all that loud but it does thump a little. I was wanting to try going up there for a day in the next few weeks….Thanks

Jet Pumps / Jet or diverter splash back over transom
« on: February 24, 2014, 01:58:48 PM »
I just recently went through my Berkeley JC pump, it had a 9 vane Agressor bowl, all worked well before, I changed the "cut down" A impeller to a B and installed a place diverter and super sport loader grate. I went to go test at Elsinore yesterday, boat really picked up out of the hole and mid range, but what's weird is when I come to a stop and do the normal "goose it" to get away from my own wake, there is a rather large spray of water that shoots over the transom over the right bank of my makes a mess....LOL  I spoke to a few people at the lake and they seem to agree that there may be a rolled or damaged teflon O-ring in the dirverter nozzle......any advice or opinions on this issue?

SoCal Lakes / Lake Elsinore New Years Day 2014
« on: December 31, 2013, 01:40:19 PM »
I'll be heading down to Lake Elsinore 1/1/14 to do some testing with the boat. Just went through the jet, new impeller, bowl work and place diverter upgrade. Weather looks nice, just want to have a fun day in the sun and kick it at Coors Light Cove. If anyone is near or interested in hangin out and screw off a bit, look me up. Blue & white 18' Caribbean tunnel ram on a BBC, with all the normal shit...Cheers, and happy New Year! 8)

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Dual Holley 600cfm jetting
« on: October 02, 2013, 01:15:12 PM »
Hi everyone, new to this forum. I just finished a three month project, it's a 1986 Caribbean 18' jet boat. I stripped it down to the bare hull and went from there. I built a fresh 467ci BBC, Scat 4340 4.0" crank, ZL1 con rods, JE pistons full floating pins 23cc dome, compression is 9.97:1. G.M. 049 heads 118cc open chamber, 2.190 & 1.880 valves all Comp valvetrain lift .578 and dur. @ .050 in 244 & 246 110 LSA. Edelbrock tunnel ram with two Holley V/S 600cfm on top. I have added Quick Fuel metering plates for secondary fuel delivery. Secondary's are opening fine under load, I have the light spring silver with a yellow paint swatch. I began with 69 jets in the primary and 77 in the secondary and all is great accept WOT, I think I was hearing a lean miss, so at Parker last weekend I bumped it up to 70/80 and still had a miss at WOT. Plugs are showing color, looks normal. Now I'm thinking it's a fat miss, I had a few people tell me that they think it's too rich, go back to a jet size close to origional like 65 up front stay with the 6.5 P/V and 70 in the rear...Timing is @32 total, manifold vac. is 10-11" at idle..any thoughts?
