Site News / Found my old boat
« on: June 12, 2016, 05:43:23 PM »
6 years ago I had a 1977 Hawaiian 19ft.  I sold the boat with out motor.  The guy that bought it was kinda weird but gave me cash so I sold it.  My wife sent me a pic and said look at this boat that someone found in the desert with 2 other hulls.  Sure looks like my old boat.  Kinda sad to see it like that and crazy.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Just picked up a Dimarco
« on: April 25, 2016, 10:50:06 PM »
I was searching around for a new trailer to build for my boat.  I found one that was for a good price but had to come with the boat. Not a big deal so I went and looked at it.  Trailer is nice and something I can work with which I had planned.  Anyways the boat that it came with was a 1978 Dimarco jet.  No motor but pump and pretty much all there just some cleaning.  The more I was looking at it I'm really liking the hull.  I've tried to look up Dimarco boats and the history.  Not to much info.  I did Notice that Jim Brock here on SoCal knows a thing or too about these boats.  Maybe he will chime in. I think I'm going to keep this nice hull and make it nice again.  If anyone knows a bit about these hulls that would be great to here some insite. Thanks for any info that anyone may have.

Jet Pumps / Possible pump locking up.
« on: September 02, 2015, 05:45:23 PM »
Ok so I have a friend who has a built 455 olds. Had all measurements and machining done correct by a very good machine shop and paid for it dearly. At the lake for testing on start up oil psi is at about 50psi. Heats up and of course oil psi drops to about 25 psi and that's pretty good for an olds. When throttling up oil psi increases as it should to about 40 psi. Bearing clearances are set at 3.5 thousands and running 2050 oil. We'll after a good hit of the throttle for a short while maybe 15-20 seconds and off throttle it shuts off. When trying to restart it acts like it's seizing up and doesn't want to start and white smoke starts coming out of the breathers only when trying to crank. Now backing up the pump was starting to make a weird noise kinda like a grinding noise but not really. So it's making a noise that probably shouldn't be there. It won't start and so he was frustrated and he gets towed back to the beach and the day was over. He's thinking the engine locked up and it's that. The next day he decides to try and start it and it cranks just fine and actually starts with 50psi at idle. WTF!!! We decide to cut open the oil filter thinking it should surely have metal shavings in it if it was locking up and it's clean no shavings at all!!! The question is can your pump lock up making it seem your engine is locking up when it really isn't. When braking the engine in we ran 3 sessions of 30 min each and oil psi maintained at 45psi with the pump disconnected.

The Parker Strip / Places to stay in Parker
« on: August 11, 2015, 02:46:44 PM »
My wife and I are planning on going to Parker the 28th 29th 30th of this month for her Birthday.  We go there once a year but always stay at Blue Water.  Wanting to go somewhere different.  Any ideas where to go that is nice and have a launch ramp close by?  Hotels, houses anything other then Blue Water.  I don't mind Blue Water had great times there.  Just want a change.  Thanks for any ideas guys.

Brian
