Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Gas pedal stop? Needed or not?
« on: May 15, 2016, 10:05:59 AM »
I'm wondering if you need a stop at the pedal or if the pedal can just be stopped by the carb when it's wide open? Does that pressure damage the carb linkage or rods? Would it be better to build a stop at the pedal so the pedal stops first?

Just got my 750's back from C and J and I want to keep these things tits

Interior / Superior Fiberglass bucket seats?
« on: April 15, 2016, 08:00:48 AM »
Found some bitchin looking carbon fiber bucket seats but has anyone ever done business with Superior Fiberglass? I noticed the first review on their page referred to it used to be a chop shop. Sure enough I checked out the address and it used to be Jet Boats Plus. I have no idea if it is any of the same people or not.

The seats look nice, I had wanted to order a set. What's everyone think?

Jet Pumps / How to measure pump clearances??
« on: April 02, 2016, 12:53:52 PM »
Putting another pump together tomorrow, I've always had help in the past. How do you measure and what clearances should you have between impeller and wear ring, and impeller and stuffer? Also the front side of the impeller/ wear ring area?

Not sure I'm describing that right but I know you can shim it right there. Any help is appreciated guys, thanks!

How do you determine how far from the transom to locate your engine and how is it measured? Inner transom to engine block? To crank flange? Pto?

Combo in question is 500lb tx19 700+ hp aspirated, up to 1000 with bottle eventually. Have to keep a backseat in it too. Standard intake (not low pro) with dominator pump, has dons ratchet (adds 3" or something to length of pump where driveline mounts)

Jet Pumps / Anybody know anything about this Shoe?
« on: January 08, 2016, 09:13:04 AM »
this is off the intake I just popped out of my tx19 project, looks kinda hokey to me and it's a cast material. The cast part almost makes me think it was some kind of production or standard aftermarket part that was available off the shelf. I'm also curious about the five bolts across the back and the position of the other four bolts. The shoes I have in my other boat have bolt holes much closer to the front tips of the shoe which seems like a better mounting method.

Is the this type of shoe here garbage or can you buy solid new replacements that would work at triple digit speeds? Otherwise I have a stock berk intake I can have machined for mpd or someone's shoes and run that. Or I'm considering low pro

So I've been kicking around painting or gel coating my project...... I really want gel but I've never sprayed it. Also last time I painted a boat I had neighbors calling code enforcement.

So id like to ask who all does gel in SoCal that could do a nice single color with some pearl and maybe slight fade or shading around the rub rail area and such?

What should a single color gel top and bottom cost for a 19' tx?

Jet Pumps / Rpm vs HP etc
« on: October 19, 2015, 12:35:04 PM »
So, I understand the Berkeley impeller vs hp charts to be a somewhat loose guideline, what all can affect peak rpm besides impeller cut and HP?

Is it true an inducer can eat a couple hundred rpm?

What about a loader, or even better a drop keel loading your pump harder?

I've even been told weight and hull design? What about matching of suction vs intake? Bowl design?

Interested to hear some answers thanks guys

Hulls / Worth it to convert a 19' Daytona from wacker to jet?
« on: September 22, 2015, 11:17:28 AM »
Has anyone done the conversion from outboard motor to hear drive on a 19' Daytona? I've heard it can only be done to certain hulls but can be done? I've heard of a lot more 21' Daytonas getting converted, but what about the 19'?

Boat Showcase / Proper intro/ My boat build
« on: September 21, 2015, 10:06:53 PM »
Been on the site for a couple months now thought it was about time to do a proper intro and show my boat build a little bit. My boat is a 1969 18' Tahiti, big heavy wide body hull. Was given to me and basically a trashed empty hull. Like most projects it snowballed from a low budget starter boat to what it is now. A heavy big pig that runs 90 legitimately on GPS.

It's had the subfloor replaced, three paint jobs, two olds motors and now finally my bbc 496 stroker last year. Around 750hp on motor, built by Lenox Built Performance. Setback pump, shoe, ride plate, capped hull, done the interior twice, pump two or three times. Runs a BC bronze and inducer pulls about 6300rpm.

Eventually I need to get into a tunnel or winger but for now this is what I got!

Hulls / How to attach two halves of a hull???
« on: September 21, 2015, 04:15:00 PM »
How would you go about re- fiberglassing together a deck and bottom half of a hull once it's been separated? Is it real difficult?

I capped my last boat myself so I know a bit, but I've never tried to do this one. Thanks for any help guys
