So I goofed and ordered the wrong gasket for my TR.  I have  an ancient Weiand with three bolts on the top plate.  Gasket has four.

It's 16.5" x 7.25" with four holes.  Meant for a Weiand Hi-Ram.  It's not worth sending back plus I've already opened the package.  Shoot me your address and I'll send it out.

So, last week I slapped on a vintage Weiand TR with two 750 DP's (Bought them as a package deal)  I've rebuilt the carbs and everything seems to be good on those.  Running 74/75 on the jets with 50CC pumps at both ends and no power valves.

I'm running a Mallory ign. module in an old points dist.  The ignition seems strong, strong enough that I backfired and blew the top plate gasket out of the TR.

The motor is a '78 454 out of a truck, stock cam.  I put 781 heads on it at the same time, those are good to go. I'm also running OT Bassetts.

My question is: Am I over carb'd?  The plugs are a little wet, but I attribute that to pumping the carbs to get it to fire and then it not running long enough to burn everything off.  I can't get this thing to idle at all, it revs to ~2500 then coughs and sputters a bit and dies.  I can fiddle with the throttle and keep it half-assed alive, but it's not happy.  A little poppy through the pipes, The timing isn't perfect, but I've gotten it kind of in the middle of too advanced/too retarded.

I'm thinking that I might have a vaccuum leak causing this, the mid piece on the TR isn't as flat as I think it should be where it mates to the top plate. I can see light under a straight edge on one side of the TR.  I'm going to sand the plate this weekend and see if I can true it up.  The way the gasket blew out of it makes me think that it isn't sealing as well as it should.

Also, how flat does the carb base plate have to be?  The perimeter is flat/true, but on an angle there is ~.005 gap at the middle of the carb.  It's like the ears have been a little too tight, but like I say, the perimeter isn't leaking, so I figure this little bit of gap shouldn't matter on a squarebore.

Long story short, engines revs high real quickly, then dies out and won't idle even when fiddling with the throttles.  Too much carb or a massive vaccuum leak?

Anyone have any -8 stuff lying around they want to part with?  Looking for a couple of 90 fittings, summit/amazon has them for ~$15 each, I'm not concerned with scratches or discolored anodizing so I thought I might see if I could find some used cheaper.

So I have this cam that I got in a package deal. I'm thinking it's too big for my boat, 18' Rogers Super Cyclone, JB-A. 

But I thought I'd refer to the experts.

I'm building a ~10:1 468 with 781 heads and a tunnel ram, I have OT Bassetts. 

Cam specs are:

Solid flat tappet
110 LSA
106 IC
Duration: 306
@.050: 260
.629 lift

Looking to see if anyone has any old random an lines and or fittings they want to part with. 

Just put on a set of bassetts and need to plumb the T and water lines.  I'm going to redo everything over the winter and don't want to pay for new parts if I can find used. 

I need -8 fittings, 5 straight, one either 45 or 90.  I can use assembled hoses if someone has those lying around.  I need one 30", one 18" and one ~6".  I can shorten longer ones if need be. 

Dig through your junk drawers and old parts bins and sell me your old, faded, discolored an fittings and hose. 

I have a few parts lying around to trade if you're interested in the that instead of cash.

Interior / Cocktail Seating Question

inside dimensions
overall width/depth/height.

Pictures to go with the measurements would be GREATLY appreciated, but not necessary.

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / 76 Rogers Super Cyclone Gel

I've got a 76 Rogers that the P.O. painted over the deck with something.  I'm in the process of stripping that.

My question is... The boat is white/ blue.  Could/would Rogers have put a white gel coat down, then put the blue behind it and then laid the glass?

The reason I ask is because it looks like there is a layer of white on top of the blue around the interior. 

You can see in the pics it looks like there is paint, then primer, then white gel, then blue gel. 

I'd love to get to the blue, but I think it might be buried in white gel.

Trailers / Float Bar Length

Is there any rhyme or reason the length of a float bar?    I bought a Rogers Super Cyclone from the bay area last year and brought it to Texas.  Our ramps appear to be a little steeper out here and I'm having trouble running the hull into the float bar mount.  I'm thinking if I shorten it up by about half it'll work out a lot better at the ramp, but I"m wondering how short is too short.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / 454 Cam & Valve Covers

Got a couple of extra parts in a deal for a short block that I don't need.  A cam with low hours that is too big for me and a set of valve covers that I don't want.

Keep in mind these are in DFW, so they'll have to ship.  I have a buddy in Palmdale, so I might could send them out with his Vette on the truck in a week or so.

Comp 11-220-4 Solid lifter with lifters and springs.  $250 o.b.o.  Appears to be low hours, I'd run it, but it's too big for my motor.

Comp Composite valve covers.  Looks like the P.O. dropped one on a corner.  A little epoxy and it should be good as new.

$80 o.b.o.

I've got a set of pistons that are claimed to be Speed Pro .060 over pop ups.  They appear to have a 50cc dome from what I can find online.  They have 292-97 embossed on the bottom of the slug.  I'm still cleaning these and trying to find a P/N for them, I'll post more when they're ready to go.

Jet Pumps / What reverse bucket do I have?

My pump says JB-A, but the bowl looks like a G or similar, the reverse bucket doesn't look like anything I can find online.  I'm trying to get the correct reverse linkage and can't find info/parts for it.
