Jet Pumps / Jacuzzi energizer kit
« on: April 20, 2015, 07:39:54 PM »
I have a Jacuzzi yj with an energizer kit.  I had a Berkeley before and it had a place on the top of the bowl to put gear oil.  I haven't noticed a spot on this pump for that.  Do I need to search harder?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 460 backfiring through carb
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:21:58 PM »
So last trip out after a long run The motor started backfiring through carb.  Now this is an all of the sudden problem.  I'm suspecting bad gas as I was in a hurry and had to fill up at a suspect gas station.  What would cause this?  Am I on the right track or can there be more to it.  I've never had an issue prior to that day.  If I stay off the secondaries it doesn't do it.  But it now idles a little rougher than before.

Jet Pumps / Place diverter help
« on: June 14, 2014, 01:27:24 PM »
So I just got a new Bennet pump and it works fine except when it hits full up.  It seems to lock up and when I try to go down you hear the pump try to pump but it won't move.  If I loosen a line and move it down a little it works fine in the up and the down.  But as soon as I go all the way up its stuck.  What should I do?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Accelerator pump question
« on: June 13, 2014, 02:41:34 PM »
I have a Holley 650 I believe and the accelerator pump is leaking bad.  I know I need to replace the diaphragm but I don't know where to get one ASAP.  Also are there different sizes.  And how can I be sure I get the right one.  I am in Corona and don't know of any places near by.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Loctite freeze plugs?????
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:27:42 PM »
Is that a common practice???  I have 2 that leak bad and I'm trying to replace them but they won't come out the normal way.  I'm gonna have to pull this damn engine to get to them so I can see.  But I have a feeling that they are loctited in there.

Like the title says, I'm looking for a guy to build me a reliable Ford for my boat.  Right now I have a pretty fresh 429 with dove heads, hei, forged pistons and some svo internals.  I figure I'm at about 350 hp.  I'd like to be at about 600 hp but I'm not sure what route to go.  I know i want to put a different crank but just not sure if I need a stroker or just a 460 crank.  So ford guys, help a brother out.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / How hard can it be?????
« on: August 29, 2011, 07:17:59 PM »
So I've got my motor broken down and ready to fix.  So a local shop around here says they will rebuild it and give it back to me completely sealed for 2400.  That's more than I want to spend.  So I was wondering if I sent everything out to be machined and then put it back together myself how much would I save.  The shop said they put new pistons, bearings, cam rockers and lifters.  Is that a good deal?   If I do all the same stuff myself would I save a lot of cash?  Also is my cam bad?  How do I know if I can keep it and reuse it?  And finally how hard is it to put the motor back together myself.  The guys in tv make It look easy.   Are there any special tools other than a torque wrench that I need.  Also how do I know if I have all my clearances correct.  Last thing I want to do is save five hundred bucks putting it together only to pull it apart again and spend the 2400 to have it done.   So any advice is really appreciated and if anyone wouldn't mind helping me I would be very appreciative in the form of ice cold beer.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Seized olds
« on: August 21, 2011, 01:15:29 PM »
So my boat just died in the middle of the river and wouldn't start.  The starter engages but won't turn.  I was hoping the battery was just dead or worst case the jet seized because I need a new one anyways.  So I get home and meter the battery and it has 12 volts. I take a rachet and turn the motor back a little and try to start.  It turned to the point it was at before I turned it.  I disconnect the jet and that spins freely so obviously my motor is seized.  So what's the next step.  Is it as simple as new listing and a bore job or could it be the bottom end.  Where do u start to figure it out.  Also it was a great time at Big River this weekend.  You guys are really cool and I'm glad I joined the forum.

Lower River / wants to check out blythe
« on: July 27, 2011, 04:43:47 PM »
I generally go to big river or Laughlin but I wanted to try Blythe.  I have a flatty so water level isn't a big deal.  I mainly want to know where to stay and where the hang out spots are.  I need a place to stay that is dog friendly.  We are a young family looking for some people to boat with.  I'm 26 and my wife us pregnant. I drink but not out of hand.  Well not intentionally at least.  If anyone has any info orr is organizing a trip I wouldn't mind being invited.
